Increased voter participation in
Avon Lake is the goal of a group of citizen activists calling ourselves Informed Citizens United (ICU).
We are a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization whose motto "Your Vote
is Your Voice - Use it" is a call for Avon Lake voters that are currently
nonparticipants in the electoral process.
Central issues for ICU revolve around exciting Avon Lake voter
interest and exploring the possibility of a city manager instead of a mayor,
and measuring interest in the concept that the president of council be the
at-large member who received the most votes in the general election.
ICU's ultimate goal is to reach the 11,000 or so eligible voters
of Avon Lake who regularly stay away from the polls.
Avon Lake voters seeking more information, such as what ward
they live in, or who is their councilperson, can contact ICU at 440-933-6344 or
visit our web site at www.icuavonlake.cc.
Email us at [email protected].
All callers will be invited to join ICU.
Approximately 5,000 of
the approximately 15,000 eligible voters in Avon Lake voted in
the last election.
