high above me:  here's an interesting little bout of inspiration, adorned from having a quick brain-storming session with a few friends over ryo, and the whole ken thing.

we've already established that daisuke
is ryo, in some way possible or another.  but here's an explanation, and more ironic twist to the story.  and the scariest part is that it makes a whole hell of a lot of sense!

have you ever seen that one sci-fi series where the kid goes into a coma, and dreams of a world that he must quest through because at the end is some wizard that can get him back home? have you ever seen wizard of oz?  you know the story, at least, the hero(ine) goes through a dream realm where she has to defeat the baddy, and find the exit - claiming the just route back to reality and the real world.  everyone knows that dejitarusei is an actual world in the dimension of dejimon, but there
are cases in life of where someone can be dreaming somewhere, and their "essence" is located at another point.  disturbing, eh?

well, what if someone
was dreaming somewhere, and his/her (sub)consciousness was dislocated to another place -- most importantly, the dejital world?  some people speculate that if you do not wake up from falling in a dream, you'll actually die.  das ist grausam .. but oh well.  so this person is thrown into another
world, and such - is able to interact with this new environment
surrounding them.  and considering this is dejitarusei, it
is a real
world, and can be manipulated quite easily.

so what if motomiya daisuke was this unimportant person, having a dream, like usual in his house, like usual, during one random night while he's younger -- say, five or six years old?  now, his (sub)conscious would have been displaced as discussed earlier, possibly to get sucked into dejitarusei's parallel void.  daisuke, like any normal child of his years, probably wanted to be older and more "mature" in some fashion, have awesome spiky hair, cool clothes, the whole bit.  so let's say his dream gave him that, and
voila .. you have ryo.  why was he given such an odd name, meaning water caltrop?  who knows.

anyway, as daisuke-ryo is wandering through his little dream, he comes across an alone and confused child going by the name of ichijouji ken.  being such a nice guy as daisuke-ryo is, he decides to help the poor kidlet out during their time together.  so they travel.  but here's the question, how can one dream of daisuke's end up being a long journey for ken?  that's easy.  dejitarusei's time is in flux at all times, being known to speed up considerably (while someone is in the real world, '01), slow down greatly (during summer vacation, '01), and even begin to run backwards (taichi going back to help his younger self, '01) to some extent.  so while fourty minutes of REM time was nothing big and grand, it could have been literal
years for ken, wormmon, and ryo to run about in.  it's so sensible, it's eerie, right?

it's already been mentioned that ryo had a veemon.  so where did
that come from, if ryo is daisuke and never actually possessed a dejimon and/or had seen one?  taichi, when he was younger, claimed to see "monsters" on television and such.  maybe it goes unsaid that daisuke experiences the same?  well, veemon's v symbol represents victory, and since we all know that daisuke becomes vehement about winning later .. he may have invisioned the dejimon from right off the top of his head, as a faithful companion that shared his little likening for success!  or not, it's just an idea.  daisuke also immediately became the leader of his group, and ryo looked the part too, obviously.  look at the fanart on this page, and you can note that the d-3 feature is the same cerulean hue as daisuke's own - which is quite interesting, even if it's a fan's rendition.

so the crest of miracles may have belonged only to ryo, as just a filler idea for the dream-world.  after all, isn't that what it took for
kaiser to be expelled from ken's body; a miracle?  daisuke's the only chosen that has more than two crests, regardless - so it's quite uncanny.  when he goes to the emperor's fortress to take him down, wormmon obviously gets in his way .. but then begs for him to help change ken.  he also had that ultimatum with takeru, but never acted upon it.  why?  because he could possibly remember ryo, unlike ken and his odd amnesia-ish dreams of the past, and knows the boy would do anything to help ken out.  the golden dejimental is especially unique because of its origin in a dream realm, and only reacts to daisuke because, well, he's actually ryo, and he's reclaiming "his" dejimental!  so that also explains why veemon was his dejimon, and reacted when he touched the dejimental of courage - because he had traveled with ryo in the past, and recognized daisuke as the same child!  does this mean daisuke remembers ken, somehow?  probably not, although it may affect his later "desicions" concerning everyone's favorite genius.

bingo, you guessed it.  why was daisuke so adamant about forgiving ken quickly, and asking him to join his team of dejidestined, without much thought to what the others thought?  he could have had that inkling inside him, that just influenced his thoughts about the boy - that he
knew ken was a wonderful human being, despite atrocities of the past.  all he needed was a chance.  and then they became best friends so fast, just as if they had known eachother from some time before.  how odd.  it can also explain how they jogress, and not another pair.

so what is this with ryo being targeted to get th
e dark seed, and not ken?  now it finally makes a lot of sense, and can be actually plausible.  oikawa-vamdemon may have known daisuke would eventually be the leader of the next group of chosen, one way or another with dejitarusei's messed up time length, and knew that he needed to get the boy out of the picture - and what better way than just making him serve darkness?  and he knew the only way to get to daisuke was through this dream of his.  it's like that theory about dying if you don't wake up from a falling dream; it may carry over into the real world!  but ken foiled the one attempt, so oikawa had to work with what he could.

it's obvious ken and ryo cared deeply for eachother, age-wise or not, and since ryo only lasted as long as daisuke's dream .. ?  well.  when daisuke and ken hooked up again, relatively speaking, things began to slowly snowball from there.  just sit a moment, get an icepack for your head, and think about it.

have i missed anything, do you have any ideas, do you know of any episodes where daisuke says something uncanny that could relate to this?  e-mail
me!
( i'd like to thank alan and steven for their input! )
