-- souls.  it's also "sketchy" as i was told that cthulu's minions turned people inside out, and when all of the scubamon changed into those dark figures, it was eerie in that effect.  purgatory's definition is ~ an intermediate state after death for expiatory purification; specifically : a place or state of punishment wherein according to Roman Catholic doctrine the souls of those who die in God's grace may make satisfaction for past sins and so become fit for heaven.  after all, osamu became a total bastard in the later years before his death - going as far as to abuse his brother physically.  so let's say, even if you don't believe in purgatory, that osamu was sent there.  he would be quite sore to be caught in this station of temporary misery and suffering before being released to heaven -- since he had to work out all of his sins,
and all that other stuff.  oikawa sent ken on that trip there, and happened over the ocean itself .. where of all places, those bubbling and beckoning "voices" of the souls were muddling about.  and thus, so was osamu in the dark fathoms.  the change of the d-3 signified osamu possessed his younger brother, since he being a bastard to ken was the possibly "final" straw for his being sent there.  so he wanted revenge, 'cause he had not gotten over his anger (and sins) yet.  i've also found that catholics believe that purgatory hears (and needs to hear) all of your prayers, so it more likely than not heard ken's "wish" for osamu to just disappear from his life.  so maybe when osamu was sent there, he found out about his little brother's desire - and any evil in his soul only grew worse; as per the suffering and misery factor.  he wanted revenge, and the one he wanted hurt the most happened to show up.  if it's not purgatory, it really is at least a spiritual prison for the damned.  anyway, on with the cthulu reference.  dagomon (dragomon) is the "dark undersea master," who was the king the scubamon wanted hikari to overthrow.  it makes sense that he rule over the souls of the lost, with his similarity to the soul-eating cthulu.  anyway, his evolutons consist of demon, pukumon, and venom vamdemon.  how interesting, ne?  it's described on demon's game card that he commands the flames of .. yes, purgatory.  and he stalks ken temporarily in the episodes.  he wants the boy for the simple purpose of his evil ways - perhaps angry that ken "stole" a wandering soul from the waters' depths?  is there a connection between the vamdemon that was destroyed by the chosen, and himself?  was vamdemon really the "one" villian for the entire two seasons?
a little work goes: i mentioned in my akiyama ryo to the motomiya daisuke connection theory that both are one in the same, in some sort of text.  i also mentioned that miracles could have been ryo's crest, and thus, dejimental.  a friend of mine said that the "golden" dejimentals could possibly by the essence of the crest, if you will, locked away inside of a dejimental instead of a crest and dejimental.  that would make sense, since it seems as those daisuke did not get a crest for having miracles, nor wallace for having fate.  when daisuke shouts "i thought i'd never see you again!" when he sees magnamon, it could be two references.  one, back to when he traveled about with wallace (see the timeline), or two, back to when he was
akiyama ryo.  ryo and ken could jogress dejivolve supposedly in tag tamers, so why not have separate evolutions with dejimentals?  perhaps ken was so distraught by the consideration of a future jogress with daisuke simply because he and ryo did it all those painful years ago?  was it too much of a reminder?  after all, ken "awoke" from being in that emperor-induced coma, ryo and etc. were very fuzzy because of the interference of the dark spore.  so when he found a critical endeavour, he would remember all the more -- possibly he saw daisuke and ryo as one in the same, and was just distressed over the whole event (until daisuke shouted "live!!" and smacked him, at least in the original).
paranoia coming: i finally got to watch the damn episode "darkness before dawn," and thankfully i did not fall asleep right before it!  i did mention previously that the dark 'voices' that kaiser was prone to hear happened to be ken, although i'm going to change my tune immensely in the next few moments.  earnestly, at least in the dub, the odd linking voice between the one in the emperor's head and the dejimon demon happen to sound painfully similar.  the whole "beware the darkness" is more of a taunt, now - as while the despot collapsed in pain, the image of the waters to the dark ocean were projected wobbling over his face.  when the initial mental assault began, he viewed a portal to the said
world right below him.  ken is also struck by these visions (more info coming when i *see* the episode), and eventually, as mentioned, has demon stalking him about.  i believe it is as simple as this.  osamu got a ticket out of the temporary suffering and purification of the dark ocean, purgatory, by hitching a "joy ride" in his little brother's body.  demon would make those cameos near the end, mocking him for attempting to rule a world when he should have rightfully been in the dark ocean, as he gave him the impressions of the mentioned place.  this frightened osamu/kaiser, making him all the more pissy and what not, and really just more stressed and insane (look at the wrinkles around his eyes;
the wrinkles and such are all the more deeper - maybe he has ken in the back of his mind to deal with, as well as demon?).  the emperor scoffs that "the powers of darkness mean nothing" and he is "still the rightful ruler to dejitarusei," and so on.  so when kaiser is finally defeated, osamu too is allowed to go free in a flurry of that dejital dust -- and thus, is released into the true light instead of back to the fathoms of that festering dark ocean or purgatory.  this makes demon mad.  bad man, no cookie.  catch my drift?  he finds he can't get at osamu to do his job of making the soul righteously pure, or whatever, and thus believes ken is the true culprit of the entire endeavour.  it's why he stalks ken.  it's why he gets thrown back into the dark ocean, because that's where he came from (but if he could open portals between realms at will, why the hell did he not come back immediately?).  ken even got the one-tone kaiser eyes in that entire struggle, as if the darker portion of osamu/kaiser still lingered within him.
