Casual Audrey
I wish I had a better title for this section. The look worn by Audrey is casual only if it is compared to other looks in the film. Well, anyway, you'll notice that my interpretation of the Casual Audrey look can be summed up in two words: swing dress. The full skirt is cute, flattering, memorable, and accurate to the fifties. The best part? These skirts are at almost every good vintage website, so finding one to fit you won't be a hassle. Just follow the instructions below; you won't be disappointed!
To get the casual look: -look for a white blouse, with medium to long sleeves, with a button front and (possibly) Peter-Pan collar (if you can't find one, just use a blouse that has a medium-sized collar. -fold up the sleeves until the roll reachs a little below the armpit (the fold should be no wider than an inch, maybe an inch and a half). -find a full skirt that swings when you spin around. -make sure the skirt is longer than tea length, but shorter than ankle length. -for extra fullness, add a light crinoline under the skirt. -add a wide belt to the skirt, making sure it matches or even ties together the top and the skirt. -for the shoes, wear a flat-heeled, strappy sandal (see above picture); think Grecian goddess, instead of Vegas showgirl. -finish the look with a scarf tied around the neck (no nooses, please!) If the skirt is a solid color, the scarf can be patterned; if the skirt is patterned, make the scarf solid.
