Just a quick update-- we ARE on for the tournament, combining teams with the Muskies and Nighthawks. See the October schedule for dates and www.jmshockey.com for more information. Christopher Dachel has an injured rotator cuff and will miss the season, and the AHA coninues to screw with our recruits in the crummy evaluation process. Hopefully we can pull in some players through the draft and convince the AHA to allow us to retain some of our skaters.
Please show up to practice on the 12th at St. Thomas. We're paying for the ice and so the more we get, the cheaper it will be for all of us.
I notified ?Barb that we can't participate in the preseason tournament since 5 players can't make it to one or both weekends of the event, leaving us with a maximum roster of 10 or 11 guys (that's assuming everyone I didn't hear from WOULD be able to play). Maybe next year.
Also, I need someone to agree to purchase jersey #3, which is one we bought last year as an extra. For the new bats, here's the jersey situation I have at the moment:
Hedlund: 9 (Horton's used jersey)
Heffron: ?
Lanz: new jersey, # between 12 and 30
Muellner: new jersey #52
Ranalla: new jersey #39
Shulfer: new jersey #5 (already bought by team)
White: #22? (Bob B's used jersey)?
Assuming we can convince Adam to take #3 and that Chris bought BB's jersey, we'll need to order 3 new ones, more if we add any other players. I contacted AHA about free agent drafting procedures and we need someone to go to the last eval session on October 2nd and acquire a few skaters. I'm going to be out of town. Let me know if you're willing to do that.
D2 Preseason Tournament-- Barb from JMS is organizing an eight-team tournament for D2-level teams. Cost is $325 per team, if we all sign up that comes to about 20 dollars per person, and we're guaranteed 2 games. This would be a great opportunity for us to get some ice time as a group, for the new Bats to get used to AHA rules and such, and for the rest of us to work through the rust. Here's the schedule:
