| FACTOIDS: Ian bleached his hair half way through filming, check out the early scenes. This was the first film made by Adlib to have music specially composed for it. In this instance the culprit was Steven Berry. He went into hiding in Wales shortly after. Four months work and 2 three hour tapes were lost, when Ian left them on a car bonnet after filming. After newspaper appeals, they were never found The lake fight sequences were filmed in late January. Very, very chilly... The naked Voc robots and Jamie all wore matching underwear, which after this film, certain members were given a pair....framed! |

| I LOVE THE PERFORMANCE OF: STUART T. GLAZEBROOK. The guy had made the part his own. Arrogant, charming, a leader of men, popular with women, curious, full of human traits and frailties, he commands scenes with his on screen presence. I've heard people cheer when he first walks into shot. (this is a lie, of course) |

| THE LOST SCENES FROM SOUTHPORT: A DREAM SEQUENCE | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| THIS IS PERSONAL... by Ian Taylor I had to make this film. Eric had, god love him, tried his best with Lab 2, and whilst succeeding in putting his own stamp on the proceedings, he had deviated from how I envisioned my characters. I had also wanted to spoof the 5 Doctors for a while, and "Lab" was the best way of doing it. Colin had moved up the acting scale, since his "extra " role in Lab 2, and so was given more to do. I had had a request from Mike Hardman, that he would play the Camp Director one more time providing that he got totally killed, and could he blow himself up. Of course! I wanted to also get rid of the kilted companion as I wanted to spend more time, writing and directing. The amount of footage filming was staggering. There was about 9 hours done, for the 40 minute film, but some was due to the loss of material, filmed at Southport beach, plus a whole day at Leverhulme Park, which had to be refilmed all again. The opening chat between the 3, I refilmed on Bolton town hall steps, but was not happy with it, and took the opportunity that a holiday in Portmeirion presented, to film in hot climes on a lush beach, giving that scene a classier look. The Laurel and Hardy sequence was a wish come true, and I didn't care how I got it into the film. Lots more footage was also filmed there, too, but lost. I truly know, that we all gave everything to Lab 3, and I think it shows. To watch it again now, hardly makes me cringe, which its predecessors do. It has some genuinely funny lines and moments, some greeat performances, stunning special effects for its time. I don't think I could make a better Lab film, which is probably why the script for Labyrinth of the Blud Devils Part 4 -The Stolen Willies, has lain in an upstairs cupboard for a decade. How do you better perfection? |

| THE BOTTOM LINE: Still an entertaining film today. Totally self-indulgent for the most part, it still brings a wry smile to those who were in it, and for those that weren't, they have an aching desire to meet the lunatics involved. WATCH IT! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
