Diary Week Fourteen
Day 92
|
Wednesday, 20th October, 2004Got up late, pottered round aimlessly, went to the gym, checked my e-mail. Hmmm. It was boiling hot outside, absolutely roasting, so I went down to Norte to get myself some more deodorant and some moisturiser as my skin keeps drying in the heat and dryness. I then decided that it might be a nice idea to sit out on the roof patio during the afternoon, rather than have a siesta. On the other hand, seeing as my arms were burning just from the walk around town, I had better get some suntan. The woman in the pharmacy took one look at me and pulled out a factor 30. Why is it that keeping yourself safe from the sun costs so much? :( So I went back to the house, got some books together and set myself up outside on the patio, where I lazed about for an hour or two, going a little brown all over. Well, not "all over", but you know what i mean. The day wore on and I went off around town to see people before going and meeting Hywel and Pete around 8ish at their hotel. Pete wasn`t coming to the reception for the Welsh that night, but Hywel was coming with me. We arrived just after nine and found a table to ourselves as we were, well, a little bit younger than the remainder of the groups there. We were joined eventually by someone else of our generation, Gareth, who was staying with Granny`s sister and was previously a teacher at Rhydyfelin in Pontypridd, knowing one of Hywel`s longest schoolmates. Hywel and I munched through the veggie stuff on the menu, which wasn`t a lot, and had a chinwag for a few years, leaving around midnight to go and have a pint in San Javiers before going home.
