Woke up early once again, and switched on the tv only to find all the channels fuzzing. Bad news. Went back to bed. Woke up again at 9ish and found them back on. Excellent!

Down to breakfast where I stuck to the bread and croissants routine, with lashings of dulce de leche, and then a quick trip into town to take a look at the Pacific Gallery shopping centre.

I visited the place when I was last in Buenos Aires, and remain very, very impressed. Its hard to imagine anywhere being quite so calm and casual and so incredibly upmarket at the same time.

We had a look in a few shops, trying to find some jeans for me, but couldnt find anything that I immediately liked, which was a shame.

Going back to the hotel, we got ready and waited down in the foyer to be picked up for the Argentina match. Our guide arrived in Argentinian colours and a huge trenchcoat - something which would certainly make him stand out in the ground.

We got in the minibus with a few others from the hotel and drove around Bs As for about an hour, picking up others before being dropped in the shadow of River Plates ground where the match was being held.

After being herded round a bit (very, very strange having someone else doing the organisation!) we got to our seats, which, typically, were up with the gods - back row of a 78,000 seater stadium.

Pretty much the same view I always have of matches at the Millennium!

Argentina were clearly the better side and romped to a 3-0 half time lead with the only mildly passionate fans enjoying themselves and hardly getting overly excited by it all.

The home side made it four early in the second half, but Uruguay gave their travelling support something to be happy with, getting two late goals, one of them a very arguable retaken penalty.

Back in the minibus, back to the hotel. Sooo easy. Should let someone else take the strain more often!

After that, we wandered into the middle of town for some food, stopping at a place called La Estrella (the Star) on Lavelle and sharing a pizza between Emma and myself. I then had an ice-cream and we wandered about between the on-street entertainment, trying to find some more clothes shops to window shop in.

Eventually, we got to Santa Fe, around 8ish, which I remembered as being very impressive for shopping. Unfortunately, most of them were closed and what was open was primarily for women, but I did find one shop with some nice stuff in. Made a mental note to go back and buy it!

And, well, that was kind of it. We wandered back through the throngs of people getting ready to go and watch shows on Corrientes and had a look through some more shops and, well, that was it. Check e-mail, of course, and then bed, where I just slumped, watching American History X again on some cinema channel.
