Relevant Work Experience

3. Theological Education

  • Harvest West Bible College

  • 2000 - 2001
    Lecturer in Theology (Part-time)

Over two semesters, I ran and taught three courses in theology at Bachelor degree level. Along with providing experience in the "other side of the classroom", running these courses also gave me some insight into the "other side of the counter" as I had to set and purchase textbooks for students and resources for the college library.

    Courses were in:

    • Social and Cultural Trends
    • Ecclesiology
    • Theological Anthropology and Ethics

  • Guest Lecturing, WA

  • including Tabor College, WA
I have also guest lectured at Tabor and at local church ‘bible schools’.

    Lectures were in:

    • Eschatology
    • Ecclesiology
    • Theological Ethics

Summary of Skills

  • Good people skills – friendly, conversational manner
  • Awareness of different theological viewpoints
  • Patience when dealing with different viewpoints

An Important Note:
I am aware and believe… A bookshop is neither a lecture room nor a tutorial and is no place for arguing theology! While prudent suggestions can sometimes be made depending upon the case and the degree of assistance asked for by the customer, it is not the role of the theological bookstore sales staff to push forward particular viewpoints.
