--Many drives have been created by the species. Within the Federation, certain basics are used, which can be modified upon.
Warp Drive - This is the primary lightspeed drive. It can also go above lightspeeds along factorizations (each factorization system differs in each dimension, such as the third and fourth).
Jump Drive - Another lightspeed drive. This, however, makes jumps between points on the galactic axis.
Impulse Drive - Used for sublight speeds (Not including thrusters, etc.)
Ion (Jet) Drive - Uses ions to move. It has a jet propulsion system that directs the ions.
Ion Stream Drive - Uses a stream of ions, creating a reaction in which a vessel can move. Multiple stream can be used or added efficency. This can also be used as a weapons system.
Nuclear Drive - Outlawed by Federation. Used by many species in early Drive development, but was banned. Caused worry after use by Triadics. Uses nuclear reactions to move. Such a drive can be highly explosive and dangerous.
Transwarp Drive - Multiplies power of a warp drive speed. The factorization system "crunches" and multiplies.
Co-axial Warp Drive - Going at higher gravities, a ship can move much faster through space. Best used with high gravity plating and G-suits. this method can compromise hull integrity.
Dimensional Drive - Deltan experimental drive. Near-instantaneous, along a Dimensionaal line. This is a highly risky method, the path can veer off, and the dimensional line could go through a planet or star, causing instabilities. The lines are usually unstable, and the crew needs dimensional shielding (Originally, needed intense shielding from special pods). Neutron Stars and other such anomalies can increase stability, if plotted along the correct lines.
Temporal Drive - A ship can jump through time and space. One method results in time travel. The other results in near instantaneous travel, in which two time jumps occur, one away, and one back to the present time. Thus, space travel can also occur, seemingly instantly.
Wormhole Generator - Generates a wormhole that can be traveled through.
Aerospacial (Gravitational) Foils - The ship "rides" the gravitational pull of astral bodies, et cetera, and can slingshot or "wave" ride.
