The idea to redo "Rise Up and Walk" came about from my involvement with the Nashville Songwriters Association. While involved with them, I sent "Rise Up and Walk" to their Song Evaluation Service, in which they critique songs or send them along to Nashville Publishers. I had a great amount of compliments for the song and they believed it would show great potential, but they also gave me a technical criticism which I gave a lot of thought to. They told me that it was difficult to hear where the chorus began, since it sounded exactly the same as the verses. With the chorus being the most important part of the song, I had to figure out a way to set it apart from the verses.
With this, I began work on updating the "Rise Up and Walk" track, and while I was doing so, I decided that the rest of the songs could use a little updating too, so that they would stand up to the learning, experiences, and talent that I've gained over the past four years and that they would be even more of a blessing and encouragement to those who stand for the truth.
