Pros:
The old battle between Mac and PC an interesting turn
in 2003 after Apple came out with product after product that
just blew everyone away. At the top of the list has to be the
monster Power Macintosh G5 and the little G4 iBook. Equally
impresive is Apple's new OS, Mac OS 10.3, otherwise known
as Jaguar. Generally, Macs perform better with graphics and
color management, hence they hold an unconquerable
fortress in the publishing, design and communications
industries, plus their ease of use is legendary.
Cons:
Apple products cost an arm and leg. When they break, as all
computers sometimes do, they'll leave you a quadriplegic.
Intel-based PCs
Pros:
Windows. Using the world's most widely used operating
systyem has its advantages, allowing easy access to networks
and countless applications. PCs are also cheaper than the
steeply priced Apple Macintosh. Until Apple's G5, PC also
held the upper hand in clock speed. Software developers and
webheads favor PCs as they are more readily customizable.
Windows XP Media Center promises to take your PC into your
living room and connect it to your TV, your DVD player and
more.
Cons:
Windows, Variations bugs and alleged monopolistic business
practices have turned many away from Windows PCs.
THE
WINNER:
PCS
As much as we love Apple's design and aesthetics, PCs simply
give you more bang for your buck. The deciding factor in this
battle is networking and the Internet--both PC-dominated.
And the best thing about Apple-the iPod-works on PCs
too.
