Saturday 9th March - Tuesday 25th March
I have had a prolonged 2 weeks or so in Sydney staying at Mr Finch's in the lovely Balmain - I have to be honest and say i haven't been up to much as 1) I am skint and 2) I am skint. Having bought Bundy (my Falcon) in Melbourne I have used it to tinker around Sydney and visit the lovely beaches of North Sydney - Palm Beach(where Home and Away is filmed) and Whale beach (much smaller just south). I even took a photo of the Summer Bay Surf Club - there how sad is that....
I also went for a short jaunt down the coast south of Sydney for a couple of days with Sian - and there are some great coastal towns and beaches there as well as some nice national parks to boot. Having discovered the giant chess board in Hyde Park shortly before I left I spent a few days there hanging out with the winos and assorted businessmen on their lunchbreak (sometimes you couldn't tell the difference), and as the anti-war thing gathered pace I went to a couple of rallies in my first militant (!?!) action ever - all very civilised really although I couldn't bring myself to chant 'NO WAR' and clap my hands all the way though the march (that old British reserve eh?)
Wednesday 26th March - Saturday 29th March
Daphne has arrived out here for a few weeks holiday so we ventured into town and I got to play host and show someone else around for a change, I'm sure I bored her to death with 'and this is where I had a really good Thai meal, and thats where we got drunk..' etc etc. Anyway took in the main sights again (Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Darling Harbour) and also made it up to Manly beach for 1/2 a day
