What I really like about SH3's music is that it comes on or
changes at different situations especially when there are
monsters lurking around. For example, it may be dead silent in
one room and once you exit the room, highly tense, freakish
music comes on indicating there's monsters nearby. You'll
literally jump because of this! (Yeah, I've done this many
times!). Sometimes, the lack of music leaving only sounds of
blood dripping or the creaking of wood can give that scary
feeling. Yes, Konami did a great job with sound and believe me,
you'll notice this first hand. The thing I noticed was that SH3
did not really have the 3D environment sound effects as what SH2
had (where you could swear you heard a monster circling around
you as you are walking). Oh well... By the way, if you like
listening to those creepy SH3 tunes, there's a music CD that
comes with the game. Cool huh?
CONTROL (10.0)
Utilizing the capabilities of the PS2 controller, some of the
things you do in SH3 is button pressure sensitive. For example,
say you have a katana. If you lightly and rapidly press on the
attack button, the Heather will swing the sword rapidly from
right to left. However, if you hit the button hard, Heather will
do a powerful downward slice or a stab forward depending upon
whether you press forward int he direction you're facing or not.
This also applies to the way you run. Button pressure
sensitivity makes the player play a more interactive role in the
game. In terms, of moving
Heather around (running, attacking, climbing ladders, etc) I
found everything quite easy. All in all, everything is great -
Good job Konami!
CONCLUSION (9.9)
You want a very good survival horror game? Look no further!
Silent Hill fan or not, BUY THIS GAME. SH3 is way, way, way, way
better than the previous installment SH2 and now reigns king in
its genre. |
