If youre new to Neopia or havent been inclined to start yourself on a journey to become a NeoMillionaire then chances are youre going to have to watch your spending. When I say watch your spending I dont mean watch it all slip through your fingers, I mean only spend np on items that you need.

NP Traps 1. Quests: Believe it or not, you dont have to complete EVERY quest so if you come across one that is just too expensive leave it. The biggest quest trap that I have come across in my time in Neopia is the Earth Faerie quest. She asks for a Bubble Mote or another relatively expensive magic item and once you get it for her she only feeds your pets you could have done that for far less! 2. Faeries, Codestones and Paintbrushes: Yes they are very nice things to have but they can ruin a Neopian on a budget. If you absolutely have to have a faerie or codestone hang around the Magic or Island Shop and see if you can get one there, they should cost you around 600np that way. 3. Bargain Items: Just because an item looks interesting in its picture and you are assured by a shop owner that its heavily marked down doesnt mean you should buy it. Not always but sometimes you can be buying that item at quite a bit more than its worth. If in doubt check in the Shopping Wizard and refresh a couple of times to make sure of the price. Budgeting 1. Food: Feeding your pet is very important, how would you feel if your parents didnt give you food one day because they forgot or didnt have the time? So always set aside some time to feed you pet. Food can be very expensive or very cheap depending upon what you buy and where you buy. Because of the Giant Omelette where everyone can get a free slice of omelette everyday there are a lot of omelettes around the place so you should be able to get them for around 30np each, make sure you get a whole one. Other food items that are a good buy because Neopia is so flooded with them are: Bagguss for 10np and under, Scotch Egg for 10np and under, Box of Wheat Flakes for 10np, Cheops Plant for 10np and under, Semolina for 10np, Tchea Fruit for 10np and Plain Faerie Cake for 20np 2. Toys: Having a happy pet is also very important and its not hard to do. A few clicks each day will keep your pet more than amused. Even better for those on a budget, toys can be used again and again and again even if they are broken. Some especially cheap toys: Quiggle Keyring for 10np and under, Yellow Poogle Toy for 20np, Blue Skeith Key Ring for 20np, Pink Poogle Toy for 25np, Blue Poogle Toy for 30np, Red Quiggle Toy for 30np, Blue Quiggle Toy for 30np, Green Quiggle Toy for 30np, Yellow Quiggle Toy for 30np and Purple Quiggle Toy for 40np 3. Grooming Items: Grooming items not only keep your pets clean but they also make them happier and Ive heard that a well-groomed pet is less likely to get sick. Grooming items are also multiuse items. Some well priced grooming items are: Gold Eyeshadow for 15np, Mignight Eyeshadow for 15np, Red Blush for 20np and under, Pink Blush for 20np, Red Lipstick for 25np, Green Lipstick for 35np, Red Short Hair Brush for 40np, Blue Short Hair Brush for 45np, Red Long Hair Brush for under 50np and Shampoo for 50np. 4. Books: Books are pretty expensive and they are a one-use item. The best place to buy books is from the Book Shop and if you can find out which book is being given out in the Neopets Newbie Packs that is usually sold quite cheaply in peoples shops. Making Some NP 1. Games: games are a great way to get some quick np, find a game that you like and play it whenever youre on to get a bit of an np boost 2. Shops: you may decide to open a shop, shops allow you to sell items to other Neopians but remember that most Neopians use the Shopping Wizard to find the cheapest items so you wont get away with overpricing your goods, a good item to start with for a specialised shop is food everyone needs it and it returns a reasonable profit. 3. Competitions: if you come third place in the divisional sections of the Beauty Contest you win 2,500np and it doesnt cost anything to enter so give it a go. Also, submitting ideas to Neopets that are used on the site gives you a little np reward. I hope this article has given everyone a realistic way to shop and save his or her np for other things that are ever so tempting to buy. The best way to stop yourself from buying unneccessary items is to deposit your spare or excess np into your bank account. Please neomail me with any questions I love to help people as most Neopians do if you ask them nicely. |
