All things considered Neopets has managed to incorporate many aspects of the real world into Neopia. There are shops, businesses, houses and even crime. Included in this package is a government or at least a governing body. Think about it, the neopets staff sitting in their office all day staring at their computer screens and changing Neopia to suit their every whim, you have to admit that they have a lot of power. So what do we get from out government? Well we get a healthcare system; the Healing Springs, there are handouts to the needy; the Soup Kitchen, and there�s crime � but nothing to fight it. Too true Neopia has no Police Force, there are a few Police Guilds but none of them have managed to apprehend the Pant Devil or Dr Sloth. One thing that Neopia is missing � not that I�m complaining � is taxes. Taxes are what allow a government to do what it does, provide healthcare and Police Forces. So how does the Neopets Government pay for all the soup the Soup Faerie gives away each day? Or the Water Faerie�s surgery, waiting room AND theatre! Perhaps the faeries fund Neopia, they are magic aren�t they? Or perhaps the Neopets Government has a Secret Service that employs Pant Devils to sneak around stealing items and neopoints. It is beyond doubt that the Neopets Staff are the ruling body over Neopia. They certainly act awfully like a government so maybe they should take on the responsibilities of a government and: Maybe once they do that they�ll find time to finish the Garden feature for the NeoHomes and all the other things they have on their To Do List! |
