The Falcon Swim Club Parent Advisory Board and the Hampden and Wilbraham Park and Recreation Departments invite you to join the
Falcon Swim Club!
The Falcon Swim Club is an age-group recreational swim team for boys and girls ages 5-18.   Our swimmers compete in local swim meets.

We are a member of the Pioneer Valley Swim League.  There are 6-8 dual meets,
usually on Saturdays, starting in midNovember.   The season ends with a
championship meet in late January or early February.

We are also a member of the Western Mass Summer Swim League.  There are 5-6 dual meets, usually on Tuesday evenings, starting in mid-June.  The season ends with a
championship meet in late July.

Each season is preceded by a Stroke & Turn Clinic.  These four-week programs are for children who like to swim and want to learn about or improve in competitive swimming.  These are not learn-to-swim programs.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do swimmers have to attend every practice?
Swimmers are encouraged to come to practice as often as they can.  The more swimmers come to practice, the more progress they will make.  However, swimmers are not required to swim every night.

What equipment does a swimmer need?
Our swimmers wear a one-piece swimsuit and goggles.   While team suits are not required, they are available to order at the beginning of the season.  Many swimmers prefer swimming caps.  Kickboards and other similar equipment are provided at practice.

Are there tryouts for clinic or team?

No, however for safetys sake, new swimmers will be screened by the coaches to determine if they are ready for our program.  This usually involves swimming the length of our 25-yard pool on their first night.

What are the age groups in a meet?
Boys and girls race separately in each of the following age groups:  8 & under, 910, 1112, 1314, and 1518.  Swimming is one sport where siblings of both genders and multiple ages can follow one meet schedule!

What if we have to miss a swim meet?
Swimmers sign up for each meet by the beginning of the week of the meet, so if you know you have an important scheduling conflict, you dont sign up for that meet.

What is expected of parents?
FSC is a parent-run organization.  Parents are expected to help at meets.  A background in swimming is not needed.  Parents are also expected to supervise their children before and after practices and at meets.
