Tim started swimming at the age of 12.  He was a naturalwith a dedication to the sport and a strong desire to achieve.  Tim was living in Rochester, NY when he started swimming for the YMCA.  He won the 50 yd freestyle at the Y nationals at the age of 15.  He also received All American honorable mention as a freshman in high school.

Tims family moved to Wilbraham while he was in high school where he began racking up the awards in New England.  Tim and his family actively sought the best swim instruction in the area.  He swam for the E.L. Marlins, Sunrise Swim Club, Minnechaug High School, Pine Knoll Swim School, and Springfield College.  Tim developed a long lasting relationship with Swimming Hall of Fame inductee Charles E. Silvia who was well known country-wide for his coaching abilities.  He coached Tim through college.

Tim was the Western Massachusetts, State, and New England champion in the 50 yd freestyle in 1970, 1971, and 1972.  In 1975, while swimming for Springfield College, Tim was a two-time national champion in the 50 and 100 yd freestyle.  He was awarded the Robert B. Muir award in 1976 which goes to the top scorer at the New England Championship Meet.

Tim still holds two Minnechaug high school records in the 50 yd freestyle and the 100 yd freestyle from 1972.  He also holds the 100 yd butterfly record at Springfield College at 51.2 seconds, which was set in 1975.

Tim coached at Pine Knoll Swim School for many years and has coached numerous teams of all ages for over 25 years, emphasizing stroke technique.
Carolyn swam and coached swimming at Pine Knoll Swim School under the leadership of Charles E. Silvia for 13 years.  She swam competitively for the East Longmeadow Marlins, E.L. high school, and Cornell University through 1982.  She also did some masters swimming in 1985.  While a senior in high school, Carolyn was the state champion in the 100 yd freestyle.  She set numerous school records in the freestyle while attending ELHS and Cornell.

Carolyn co-coached the EL Marlins for a season and has been an assistant coach for the Falcon Swim Club since 1999.  Carolyn and Tim coached together at PKSS and have a similar philosophy on competitive stroke technique and age group swimming.
