USS Hutchins DD 476 Flectcher Class Destroyer
   Welcome Aboard The USS Hutchins

I started this web page after attending the September, 2005 Reunion of the Hutchins in Wildwood Crest, NJ with my Granfather Charles Land. I would like to invite former shipmates and surviving family members to email me at the address below to create a contact page for future reunions and current news. Anyone wishing to email reunion photos or photos from the ship please fell free to do so. This Site is a work in Progress so send any info that is available and I will post it ASAP.

                   We Salute Those Who Served

This web site is dedicated to the men who served on the USS Hutchins during WWII and their families.

On December 7, 1941 the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor united a our country the likes that had never been seen and put to test the patriotism of our country. After the attack at Pearl Harbor the Pacific Fleet was left in ruins, thus began the birth of a new and stronger fleet which included the USS Hutchins, among the many that would come to serve her country with Honor.

History has always portayed the Pacific Campaigne as Island hoping cammpaignes involving Marienes, Aircraft Carriers and Battle Ships, but the Destroyers were their along side supporting and defending these forces all the way.  Recently programs have been produced portaying the Service and Bravery of these "Tin Can Sailors" and their contribution to the Victory in the Pacific.

The USS Hutchins birth began due to a suprise attack on our Pacific Fleet ushering our direct involvement into WWII. Her service to our country ended when the war came to an end with the Hutchins decommisioning in November of 1945. The legacy of The Hutchins will forever live on in the memories of those who served on her, and the families that survive those who have passed on.
