All I can say is that I am tired. The 12:30 and later bedtime each night is rough before heading to school to teach. I manage, but it does catch up once in a while. But the question is...if I don't, how do I get everything done? I am doing school paperwork, trying to get started on my Master's project, parenting, housework, organization, praying for the "kids", etc. If there are any Supermoms out there, please give me a hint! I keep reading horrible stories about how women who get less sleep die earlier. Uh, yeah, like news like that is rocking me to sleep... Anyway, we are good. Maria has had a good week. She is talking up a storm and repeats almost everything. Oh, and we finally got to hear the long awaited words, "Love ya!" last night. I doubt anybody else could decipher them but we can. :) Now tonight I tried to get it, and she just laughed a devilish laugh. The neat thing with Maria's language is that it is starting to have meaning. She finds a fuzzy on the floor, she hands it to me and says, "Trash". If she steps in front of me (and she does that alot), she says, "Excuse me!" When we ask her to do something, like SIT in her chair or stop playing with her ears, she does it (sometimes) and says, "Good girl". It is a lot of fun. The first week we were home, I honestly didn't know if she would talk at all. And I am the one getting my Master's in this! I know that there is a "silent" period, but I will admit, she had me worried. The other good news (well, for us, not necessarily outsiders :) is that she seems to have overcome her fear of the potty. Oh, she doesn't really use it, but she will sit on it once in a while we sing songs. (She knows "Itsy Bitsy Spider" very well.) And tonight she even got brave enough to flush. Maybe sometime this year... I am sure you know the prayer for tomorrow...day care day! I think her regular teacher is back, so maybe that will help, but it is hard when it has been a week. Next week we are really throwing her off schedule because of a switch up with the routine. We will see how that goes! I know there are all kinds of burning thoughts and tidbits to share, but like I said, I am barely functioning. And since I really desire to be an effective teacher, I am going to bed earlier. Not early, but earlier. :) |

Well, write this day down in history. Maria did NOT cry when she was dropped off at day care. Okay, I do think it helped that Daddy was running a little late, and Maria's teacher was there (she goes to a "temporary" room until her teacher arrives typically). Maria loves her teacher and says her name very clearly. When I picked her up, she was just starting to get a little panicky...it was almost time for her teacher to leave. So thankfully I arrived in just the right amount of time. :) The funniest thing happened tonight. Well, maybe not the funniest...I have seen and heard some pretty funny things. But it was pretty funny to us. After we had pizza for supper and came home, we channel surfed and found "The Wizard of Oz". Maria doesn't really pay attention to t.v. Instead she climbs all over Mark, then moves over to me, and back and forth. She did watch a few parts. We got the girls in pjs but intended to let them stay up for a while more to watch the movie. Maria climbed into Mark's lap and started sucking her thumb. He playfully asked her if she was in her bed, which is where we have been telling her she can suck her thumb/finger. She shook her head no. Then she crawled off of his lap and put herself into bed WITH A SMILE on her face. She even pulled the covers up. We just marveled (after laughing in disbelief) at how far she has come in the past two months. The first couple weeks she cried when she even thought she might be going to bed. It is just amazing to us. God is good...all of the time. Well, since we have seen some definite answers to prayer with other requests for Maria, I have another one. Please pray for Maria's relationship to Lauren. Lauren LOVES Maria, but the feeling does not seem mutual. I do have to ask Lauren to back off sometimes...Maria likes her space. But overall, Lauren is VERY sweet to her, shares with her, etc. And overall, Maria is not very kind to Lauren. In fact, she will call everyone else here by name BUT Lauren. We know she can, she just won't. I cannot expect them to be best friends, but I would love to see their relationship develop. Sisters are so special... Have a good weekend! |

Today was such a beautiful day. The weather was warm but the surroundings looked like fall. It was a perfect picture day. Of course, getting my three turkeys to sit down and smile AT THE SAME TIME doesn't work, but here are a few. These pictures were taken in my parents' front yard. I will type more later. I will say it wasn't the best of days, nor the worst of days, though it might be leaning more toward the worst. Not just with Maria, but she definitely has contributed.. |
