The first Adam, called the son of God, was fathered by God. Adam was one of only two people in the history of the universe, that had no earthly father, and that is Adam the first and there was Adam the second. Now Melchisedec had no father nor mother. He was that God who walked in the garden. He was the priesthood that spanned from Adam to Moses when there was no law; so, God was making provision to bring those people into the covenant through the Melchisedec priesthood. "Without father, without mother, without descent having neither beginning of days nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually." (Hebrews 7:3) He was not the Son of God, but He made Himself to look like Him. The fourth man in the furnace of fire was not the Son of God. He was made to look like Him.
The first son failed and died. The second Adam, the Son of God, the only begotten, was the One that God caused to be birthed into this world. God did not make Him out of the dust of the ground, but made him out of a substance called the Word. He took every jot and every tittle of the Word and built it into a little body and called it His Son. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1) "Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, 0 God." (Hebrews 10:7) And that Son was God Himself, the Father in- person, in his Son. He was God the Father expressing the pattern, His own image, and the form that Adam was taken from. And He was the Son proudly telling the world who his Father really is.
Have you ever wondered why Jesus told Mary not to touch him? "Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God." (John 20:17) You see, both the first man Adam, and the second man Adam had the same father. One failed and became a sinner. One was born to become our sin. |
