When you first play it you can instantly tell it's an Alpha version of something because there is no inertia effects or simple gravity effects so you can actually stand at the top of loop upwards and not fall. At times Tails moves faster than Sonic!
According to some web-sites there are 5 levels four of which use the same level map. I wouldn't know this because if you don't finish the level in 3 minutes you get sent to what is claimed to be a Special Stage but to me looks more like a 3D map.
According to a magazine i saw somewhere there was a 32X Sonic game that was only released in Japan. This could be the Alpha version for that or something else entirely
**UPDATE** This 'game' isn't called Sonic Crackers it's Sonic Studium. You can tell by the writing in the top of the bar of the rom
