When she was old enough, Remailla ran away to join the herders. She met Tarik; and where as they were not permitted to handfast as both were still apprentices, they did have a child. For which Remailla was severely censured. Remailla was perhaps 17 when this happened. Three months later, she was killed in a riding accident.
Tarik is left to raise their child alone. Mailli would be thrilled to help with Tekailla if she knew about her grand-daughter; however, Tarik is a bit afraid to tell Mailli about her based on what he was told about his child's grandmother from Remailla. Tarik kept the girl in the nursery during Remailla's burial at sea.
Headstrong and willful, Tekailla seems to be a carbon copy of her mother and grandmother. Though she has her fathers slate grey eyes, and her grandmother's red hair.. She is a happy child, with a thirst for knowledge. Tarik hopes she will become a harper some day.
