| Enclyclopedia After much waiting I have decided to start on the Enclyclopedia. It may be a bit bare at the moment, but I assure you - it will grow! Accio - (pronounced Akio) The Summoning Spell. Used by Harry on numerous occasions, most famously used by Harry to summon his Firebolt during the Triwizard Tournament in Book 4. Alohomora - A spell used to unlock doors. We first saw gthis spell used when Hermione used it to get into a locked room, when on the run from Filch in Book 2. Apparently Hermione read the spell from The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 2. Aragog -The name of a spider that lived in the Forbidden Forest. Hagrids pet, since he was young, Aragog was once accused of being the monster within the Chamber of Secrets, after Tom Riddle framed him. After building a huge family of acromentula in the forest Aragog died in Book 6. Aunt Marge - Uncle Vernon's sister, who hates Harry and thinks her brother should have put Harry into care when he was left on the footstep. Marge Dursely enjoys her drink and lives with lots of dogs. Avada Kedavra- One of the unforgivable spells which will earn you a space in Azkaban. This spell deals out instant death to the victim in a flash of green light. Harry remains the only known wizard to survive the spell, while both James and Lily, his parents, succumed to it. Azkaban- Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans - risky wizarding sweets which come in every flavour imaginable. Black, Sirius - Harry Potter's godfather. Originally Harry was ashamed that Sirius was his Godfather as Sirius was thought to be a criminal when he was framed by Peter Pettigrew for the murder of Harry's parents, but after meeting Sirius Harry learnt of the truth and enjoyed having someone like a father and also a brother. Sirius's childhood home was used for the HQ of the order of Phoenix in Book 5, an ideal location due to the numerous concealing charms placed on it by Sirius' father. Unfortunately in later on in Book 5 Harry had a vision that Sirius was held captive by Lord Voldermort in the Department of Mysteries, and having had any visions proved real, proceeded tro go and save him. When Harry arrived with a group of fathful friends from the DA, Sirius was not present and they were chsed by the Deatheater's who wanted to get The Prophecy off Harry. In the final showdown of trhe book, members of The Order of the Phoenix, came to same them and Sirius was killed by Bellatrix Lestrange. Bludger- A ball used in a game of quidditch. Beaters bat bludgers towards members of the other team and intercepts bludgers batted towards their team members Broomstick - Broomsticks have replaced flying carpets in the wizarding world, as a means to fly. There are various brands of boomsticks with some brands being the best of the best. They are seen by young witches and wizards as trainers are seen in the muggle world; the better the brand, the better you look. Harry's first broomstick was a Nimbus 2000, which after being battered by the Whomping Willow, was replaced by a Firebolt from Sirius Black. Chamber of Secrets- A chamber salazar slytherin built before leaving the school, after disagreements about the entrance of muggleborns into Hogwarts. The chamber can only be opened by the heir of slytherin, and so Tom Riddle opened it when he was at school, releasing the basalisk, a giant serpent which kills by looking people in the eye. Moaning Myrtyle is the only person ever killed by the basalisk. Chocolate Frogs -Frogs which "have only one good jump in them" and are made of chocolate. They come in packets, which are pentagon shaped in the movie, and have collectable famous withes or wizard cards. Chudley Cannons- Ron's favourite Quiddich team, who we know wear bright orange robes. Crutiatus Curse- One of the unforgivable curses which lands you in Azkaban. First and foremost a spell used to torture victums. Voldemort uses this spell to punish Deatheaters when their loyalty falters and has used it on Harry. Deatheaters: The collective name for followers of Voldermort. They are distinguished by the dark mark on their arm and refer to Voldermort as the Dark Lord. When Voldermort wants to call his followers to him, he'll touch the dark mark of a deatheater and the dark mark will burn on every deatheater, and they are informed of their presence. Deatheaters are arranged in ranks, with an inner circle and increasingly less important deatheaters from then on. Diagon Alley; The wizarding highstreet, the only one in britain, which is protected against muggle exploration. Based near Knockturn Alley, a street which caters for the darker sort of wizards, Diagon Alley has shops such as; Magical Menagerie, Madam Malkins Robes for all Occasions, Ollivanders and The Leakey Cauldron. The Leakey Cauldron, a pub, provides an entrance to the alley and is only visble to magic folk. Diggory, Cedric: Cedric is the all round good guy at Hogwarts and suceeds in becoming legitimate chool champion in the Triwizard Tournament. Dumbledore, Albus: Said to be the greatest wizard, he was the only one Vildermort ever feared. Unfortunately, he died in Book 6, which is bad news for Harry, as Dumbledore was helping him prepare for his showdown with Voldermort. A wise and unique sorcerer, the wizarding world at large, mourns his death. Dursleys- Dursley, Dudley Dursley, Petunia (born, Evans) Dursley, Vernon Eelops Owl Emporium- An owl shop located in Diagion Alley, which sells "tawny, screech, barn, brown and snowy owls". This is the shop from which Hedwig was bought, on Harry's first visit to Diagon Alley Finch Fletchley, Justin Flourish and Blotts - Forbidden Forest- Gryffindor- Gryffindor, Godric- Gringotts Gryffindor- Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry- The very best school of witchcraft and wizardy around, and recently headed by Albus Dumbledore, a very important wizard in wizarding history. It is possible that Hogwarts may close down after Dumbledore's demise in Harry's 6th year. Hogwarts was founded by the four most greatest withches and wizards of the age, over a thousand years ago, who decided to set up a school to educate young witches and wizards. The four founders, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin, set up their own houses consisting of students with charactistics favoured by the particular founder. Harry is a Gryffindor and frequently expresses his love for Hogwarts as it's become something of a home to him.
