Living with his Aunt, Uncle and cousin, who treat him horribly, life is starnge for Harry as strange unexplainable things seem to happen around him. After his Uncle does all he can to stop him recieving a letter which has been continually been delivered for him, in increasing numbers. He finally reads the letter telling him that he has been accepted to Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry, when it is delivered to him by the giant man, Hagrid along with the annoucement that Harry is a wizard, as were his parents and Harry is famous for the fact that a highly feared dark wizard,Lord Voldermort, tried to kill him. To only fail, giving Harry a scar on his forehead and having the killing curse he fired reducing himself to a spirit. Harry arrives at Hogwarts and makes friends with Ron, a funny, red haired boy, and bushy haired know-it-all, Hermione. During the school year, Harry is quick to notice a plot unravel within the school. Snape, the Potions master, who loathes Harry, is after the Philosopher's Stone, a stone which produces the Elixer Of Life and turns metal to gold and is hidden at Hogwarts, planning to give it to Lord Voldermort. After believeing Snape has gotten through all the enchantments guarding the stone,they follow him. Ron gets knocked out in a game of giant chess and there is not enough potion for Hermione to go with Harry through the black flames, so Harry contiues to the last chamber alone, only to find it was Proffessor Quirrel who was after the stone and Snape had been trying to protect him. With quick thinking from Harry, he manages to get the stone, collapsing right after Quirrel perishes, leaving Voldermort, who had pocessed him during the school year, as a spirit once again. Awaking later in the school Hospital wing he learns Dumbledore saved him and the stone is going to be destroyed as it was lucky that Harry had stopped You Know Who gaining the stone, and therefore stopped him gaining immortality. The trio are happily reunited and so ends the first school year of Harry Potter, the boy-who-lived.
