| ANTiSEEN: The H.o.S. Interview (page 5 of 5) Uncle Dan: ANTiSEEN's choice of cover versions over the years reveals a wide range of musical influences. How varied are your personal listening habits from day to day? Jeff Clayton: About as varied as it can be! I will listen to The Darkness on the way to work, Big Audio Dynamite on the way home, to Venom while in the shower, and the Clash while working on my mail at night. How's that for variety? UD: Having existed as a band for so long, ANTiSEEN have managed to become a major source of inspiration for many up and coming groups. Of those bands, who are your favorites? JC: Hellstomper were always the ones I was proudest of, to hear them say we were an influence. It was also quite a compliment to be an influence on the Hookers. UD: What advice would you give to new bands just starting out? JC: Pay attention to everything we did and do the exact opposite! UD: Being a father, has it proven at all difficult to explain to your children what you've done musically over the years? A song like "Lil Sister" comes to mind, as an example. JC: The only one of my three kids that has had any real exposure to us is my 13 year old. She has a copy of the book and a lot of our CDs. She hasn't really questioned very much, yet. My younger daughter (6) gets a little spooked when she sees pictures of me bleeding, but I tell her it's like the wrestling guys! Her main concern is if I were to be hurt, and when I tell her I'm okay, she seems okay with it. UD: Before we wrap, I want to thank you again for taking time to do this interview, Jeff. ANTiSEEN's ability to thrive and survive throughout the years without compromising is a contant source of inspiration to all those unwilling to forsake doing the right thing just to fit in with the crowd. On behalf of all ANTiSEEN fans, we're looking forward to many more years of destructo rock from you guys. Any final words for the ANTiSEEN faithful? JC: Many people have hinted to us that maybe our time is up, but even more have expressed wanting to see what's yet to come. When we feel we really can't produce to the full extent of our ability, we'll stop. But in my opinion, any many others, we have been producing our best material ever in the last few years. So, I see no reason to stop yet. I'd like to thank all the folks who have been along for the ride and those yet to join us. Thank you. <<<Return to page 1 of this ANTiSEEN interview OR Return to the Smutlight on ANTiSEEN main menu |
