| LEBANON ENTERPRISE - 1/7/1944 DEATH COMES TO JOHN H. MYERS, 77, AT RILEY John H. Myers, 77, well known citizen of the eastern part of the county, died unexpectedly last Friday night at 9 o'clock at his home at Riley, following an illness of a few hours. He was strickened with a heart attack in the afternoon and never rallied. News of his passing came as a shock to all who knew him. Mr. Myers was a farmer and most of his life had made his home in the East End community. At one time he served as a member of the police force here. He was born November 11, 1866, a son a Jim and Nannie Hays Myers, attended schools of the county and for years had been a member of the Haysville Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Tharp Myers, and two children, a son James Myers, who lives in Indiana, and a daughter, Mrs. W.H. Crews of Gravel Switch; also a sister, Mrs. Millie Isaacs of Gravel Switch, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Haysville Baptist Church, and burial was in the church cemetery. |

| Lebanon Enterprise - 1/11/1957 MRS. J. H. MYERS DIES AT LOCAL HOSPITAL Mrs. Minnie Lee Myers, 85, of the East End, widow of John H. Myers, died of infirmities at 2:30pm Monday at Mary Immaculate Hospital where she had been admitted December 31. Mrs. Myers was a lifelong resident of Marion County, the daughter of Allison and Nancy Kennett Tharp. Her husband, a farmer, and former memeber of the Lebanon Police Department, died in 1943. The couple made their home in Lebanon for several years while Myers was a patrolman here but in recent years Mrs. Myers had lived with her daughter, Mrs. William H. Crews, near Gravel Switch. In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Myers is survived by a son, James A. Myers, West Terre Haute, Indiana; a sister, Mrs. Lena Sturgeon, Louisville; two brothers, Arthur Tharp, East St. Louis, Illinios; and Cicero Tharp, Smithville, Kentucky; and six grandchildren. The body was at Bosley Funeral Home where services were conducted at 2:30pm Wednesday by the Rev. Robert Hill, pastor of the Haysville Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were J. B. Gordon, T. E. Spragens, Clarence Harmon, Sam Miller Harmon, Dan Collier and C. L. Rawlings. |
