LEBANON ENTERPRISE 4/13/1923 PERSONAL Mr. Fred Hourigan has gone to Mayo Brothers in Minnesota were he will undergo treatment for his eyes. LEBANON ENTERPRISE 6/15/1923 LONG ILLNESS ENDS Fred B. Hourigan, 42 years old, died at his home on College Street in this city Tuesday afternoon of an abscess on the brain. Death followed a long illness and did not come unexpectedly, his condition for some time past being such as to cause hope for his recovery to be abandoned. Several weeks ago he was taken to Rochester, Minn, and for a while was under treatment at the hospital of the Mayo Brothers. A slight operation that gave temporary relief was performed, but the surgeons advised against a major operation. For nearly a year he had been blind, a condition brought about by the abscess. Mr. Hourigan was a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Hourigan of the Riley section. He was raised in that part of the county and lived there until something like a year ago when he moved with his family to this city. He wa a farmer and followed that occupation until coming to Lebanon. A brother, Pat Hourigan, died about two weeks ago, after a lingering illness of a complication of diseases. Surviving Mr. Hourigan are his widow, who was Miss Bertha Stayton of this county, and six children, one of them a babe born last Friday. They are Pauline, Ella May, J. Q., Ruth, Evelyn and Fred Hourigan, Jr. His parents, one sister, Mrs. Mattie Gray, of Mercer County, and three brothers, Sam, A. J., and R. B. Hourigan, all of this county, also survive. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. H. I. Hester, were held at Haysville Church Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in the church cemetery. T. W. Wash Masonic Lodge, of which he was a member, having charge of the services at the grave. |

| Lebanon Enterprise, 6/24/1981, Wednesday, Page A10 Bertha Frances Hourigan, 92 Bertha Frances Hourigan, 92, of 1205 Lillian Ave., Louisville, died at 9am June 19 at Highland Baptist Hospital in Louisville. Mrs. Hourigan was a native of Marion Co. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Clellan and Martha Ann Hancock Stayton. Her husband, Fred B. Hourigan, also preceded her in death. Survivors include: two sons, Fred B. Hourigan, Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind., and John Q. Hourigan of Louisville; two daughters, Mrs. Ella Mae Adamson and Mrs. Ruth Cox of Louisville; 24 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 4 pm June 18 at Bosley Funeral Home with burial in Haysville Cemetery. Rev. Laverne Butler, pastor of the Ninth and O Baptist Church in Louisville, officiated. |
