| My musical career began at age two when my parents bought me a toy snare drum that became a must for a couple of christmas' and birthdays to follow. I loved to beat on anything that I got sound out of, mocking drummers that I saw on television and in the local bands. I went on to learn the steel drum in the latter part of my primary schooling and at High school (St.Vincent & the Grenadines Bishops College), where I learnt alot about music. This opportunity gave me the musical sense of time and great rhythmic feel that I needed to play the drums. Although I never had a drum tutor this did not stop me from picking up drum related books, and looking at intructional drum videos so that I could create a better and more vibrant sound. In other instances I would play whatever I heard and whatever I came up with that felt right for the music that I was playing. I was then presented with the chance to attend the Drummers Collective (USA) where I was able to study with a number of well reknowned teachers namely Michael Lauren, Pete Retzlaff and Frank Katz, all of whom took my playing to a professional level, and paved the road for a brighter career |
