Hello

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Virgil and I am a QuarterHorse.  Yes, I am handsome, thank you.  Mom decided that I should be the spokeman for this site because I really love being the center of attention.  She is my voice and I trust her with all my heart.

First let me tell you a little about myself.  I was born on April Fools day in 1989.  I spent many years in a dark barn without benefit of human love or companionship.  The only time I would see a human was when they wanted me to court one of their mares, or when I got the occasional food or water.  I was near death when I was rescued.  Although the vet recommended I be euthanized, my rescuer said NO.

There was another life after that time, but I do not want to talk about it.  It was a situation no one would have guessed could ever happen twice in a horse's life.  Again I was facing death.  My rescuer once again said NO to euthanization.

One day a lady stood in my field playing with all the other horses.  Normally I would have hidden, but something drew me to her.  We had an immediate connection and I knew that this woman came to me through God to give me the life I deserve.

Since Mom and Dad did not have a farm at that time, I was boarded.  Life was good there - I had friends to run with and I learned a different way of life.  Everyone there was kind, quiet, gentle and respectful.  There was always plenty of food and clean water for everyone.  No one hit me.  No one screamed at me.  No one abused me.

Both Mom and Dad wanted more for me.  They wanted me to live with them so they could care for me and hold me whenever they wanted.  It took five years, and now we are all home.

My first clinic experience was with Mark Rashid.  I liked Mark, but more importantly, I trusted him. Someone there took our pictures and wrote an article published in a magazine.  I hope to see Mark again.  Mom asked him if he could hold a clinic at our farm.  Stay tuned.
