with Melomacarona.
They are offered
as dessert after
the Christmas
dinner to guests or
children who sing
door to door
the Kalanda
that is, traditional
Christmas carols.

Kourabiedes Almond crescents
Difficulty:     
Ingredients:
2 cups butter
4 cups "all-purpose" flour
2 cups peeled and crashed almonds
3/4 cup thin sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 egg yolks
1 small cup brandy
640 gr powdered sugar
Work the butter in abowl until it becomes white. Add the cup of sugar and the egg yolks and mix well.
Add the brandy, the vanilla, the almonds and the flour gradualy while you mix.
Work the dough well and shape little crescents.
Bake in the oven for 15'-20'.
When they are done place them in a serving tray and springle some water on them.
Decorate them with LOTS of powdered sugar to give a "snowy" effect.
