Fulfilling a mission to bring forward the Life and Times of Albert Gallatin, as well as the Jefferson and Madison Administrations, the early United States Treasury, and the international diplomatic leadership by this Swiss Founding Father.
Please indulge me as I tell you a bit about myself, and my observations as these United States of America embark on their grand experiment as an independent, democratic republic.
Like many of my colleagues in this new Federal government, I am an immigrant from Europe, the Canton of Geneva (a member of the Helvetic or Swiss Confederation since 1815) to be precise. With a friend from my academic days in Geneva, I landed on these shores at Cape Ann (Massachusetts) in 1780.
On September 8, 2017 the play, "From Plattsburgh to the Peace" returned to the Plattsburgh City Hall Auditorium (Plattsburgh, New York) as part of the programming for the city's annual Commemoration of the Battle of Plattsburgh. On Saturday, July 22, Mr. Gallatin hosted Col. James Monroe, the Fifth President of the United States, as Col. Monroe paused on his return to the Federal City after touring the Northern States. This allowed visitors to Friendship Hill National Historic Site to converse with Mr. Gallatin and President Monroe about their concerns for their growing country.
October 27, 2018: The first program of the sixth edition of the Albert Gallatin Project will be about the National Road and Internal Improvements at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania. Details are still being organized, and you will find information on Mr. Gallatin's new Itinerary page, in his Calendar at the end of articles about upcoming featured visits, and at the Albert Gallatin Project.
The Albert Gallatin Project now has a dedicated website where we will be posting information about programs within the Project, teasers related to these programs, and introductions to podcasts that will be available in full-length upon request. Please visit the site, which is active but still under construction.
Mr. Gallatin's Calendar and articles about his upcoming appearances are now found on his dedicated Itinerary page rather than his revised Contact page. The Calendar will follow articles about future appearances that are open to the public. Also the Calendar has some new features at the bottom right corner that you may find helpful in your planning.
Mr. Gallatin enjoys receiving correspondence from friends, neighbors and constituents. In order to have a page dedicated to his correspondents, his Itinerary has been moved to its own page within this site.
In other changes to the page, Mr. Gallatin addresses his concerns for your privacy. The formal Privacy Policy for this site is being revised and will include these. However, before posting the revised Policy publicly, it is going to be read and reread numerous times to make sure it is concise and easily understood.
