| - Each team will consist of 4-5 players. Only 4 will play the field. However, teams may, but do not have to, bat 5. Fielders may be positioned wherever the team chooses and can be switched whenever desired. -STEAMIN' TEABAG ACT: Once their team is eliminated, players cannot switch to another team. - Games will be six innings long. . - The batting order may not change during the game. Teams can make defensive substitutions whenever, and may re-enter fielders at any point. - Players will run the bases. There will be no "ghost" runners. - This is a slow-pitch tournament. If the batter feels the pitcher is throwing too hard, he or she may ask for them to slow it down. - There will be no walks, balls, or called strikes. Batters can strike out swinging. - Pitcher's hand will be used. All force plays on the batter going to first base may be made to the pitcher, who maybe anywhere in fair or foul territory. The runner may also be put out by force at first base. All other force plays must be made to the bases or to home plate. - Runners can be put out by being struck by a thrown ball. - No base stealing or bunting allowed.. - No infield fly rule will be used. - Fielders may not wear gloves. - All batted balls hit over the outfield fence are Home Runs (whether they are "fair" or "foul".) Except at Migley Field where foul poles will be used. -Equipment used will be the Official Wiffle(R) Bat and Ball. Bats and balls will be supplied, but players may use their own Official yellow bats. Bats may have tape on the handle only. Also, the hole on the knob of the bat must be open/uncovered. -Players may not wear cleats, rubber or metal. If they choose, players may play barefoot. -Teams will umpire their own games. All disputes should be settled by captains. If you can't agree, play a "do-over.' THE BALL NEVER LIES. -If agreed upon, umpires may be used in the Final Four. -Unless seeding is applicable, rock-paper-scissors (best of 3) will be used to determined home team. Winners may choose to be the away team. - Modifications to the rules may occur up to the day of the tournament, a complete rules sheet will be available to teams at check-in. A rules meeting will be held before the start of the tournament. |
