The Strokes are back with a sell out tour (in 20 mins no less) and they're looking better than ever.  From what we've heard they don't sound half bad either.
Thank you to The Modern Age for alerting us. Thank you!  We're still in love.
Oh dear.  I seem to have forgotten all the news I was going to add.  Damn those Strokes.  Oh yes.  Kings of Leon are touring, and they too are playing giant venues.  There seems to be a craze for it at the moment.

KOL kick off their tour at Brixton Academy on Decemeber 11th and continue taking in S'hampton Guild Hall (13th), B'ham Academy (14th), Dublin Olympia Theatre (16th), Manc Academy (17th), N'ham Rock City (18th), Bristol Academy (21th), finishing the tour at the Glasgow Academy on the 22nd.

They've surely got time for that rumoured
Strokes support slot before that haven't they?  Keep everything crossed.
Hopefully over the next week or so EWO will run a little more smoothly, without deciding not to let anyone in for hours at a time, due to exceeding its data transfer limit or whatever its excuse is.

Thanks to
Joe for the tip off, I'm going to try and stop the photos from causing anymore havoc.
The Gems have uncancelled their support slot with Kain at the return of the Hit! Club on Friday night (Oct 3rd).  Great news.

The night will run from 8.30 - Midnight, featuring Hit! Club
DJ David and headliners Kain, with guest slots from Elbrook Court and The Gems.  A Bargain at just 3/4 on the door.

See DJ David's band,
The 88's play Loaded @ Liquid Lounge on Thursday night, and supporting Rock Of Travolta at Barfly next Friday (October 10th).
As you'll have seen from the front page (photo from www.kentindie.co.uk) The Libertines are back!  Peter was released from prison this morning (Wednesday 8th October), read to play what was due to be his 'Freedom' gig at the Tap'n'Tin in Chatham.  It in fact turned into a Libertines reunion, their first gig together for over 5 months.

From all accounts the gig is being billed as legendary, not one to be forgotten quickly.  But are they ever?  With a bit of luck we'll have an
EWO report up very soon, in the meantime, check out more photos from the gig here
The Dirtbombs are set to release a split single with 'renowned techno DJ Justin Robertson' on Manchester's Slut Smalls label in the 'next month or so'.  The track The Dirtbombs contribute is called 'She Played Me Like A Booger', 'a 2 minute epic for the lovelorn.'

It's set to be a released on limited edition numbered 7", no date confirmed as of yet.  News when we have it.  In the meantime The Dirtbombs third album, 'Dangerous Magical Noise' is released via
In The Red Records, on October 20th, on CD and LP.
The Owsley Sunshine have been announced as support for The Zutons at King Tuts on October 23rd.  Wonderful news.

You can buy tickets direct from The Owsley Sunshine at a discounted price.  Can't say fairer than that can you?  E-mail the band at
[email protected].  While you're at it, order a copy of their superb debut album 'Look To The Merry-Go-Sun' (see reviews page) for just 5.
Great news for all you David Viner fans out there, you can download 'My Baby (Woo Woo Yeah)' from NME.com now!  Right click and choose save target here

The double a-side 'Where The Posies Grow'/'My Baby (Woo-Woo Song)' will be released on Loog Records on November 3rd, and
MDV is reported to be featured in this weeks NME out today in London/tomorrow in the rest of the UK.
The Strokes have confirmed that the second single to be taken from Room On Fire is going to be Reptilia, much to the delight of our cover girl.  In typical Strokes style, theyve decided against recording an original b-side, with a home recording of Meet Me In The Bathroom backing Reptilia.

The Strokes play Braehead Arena on December 1st.  Tickets Scotland have a few returns in now if you don't have a ticket.
In contrast, the most prolific band in Glasgow, The Owsley Sunshine, have set up a new website, www.believeusorleaveus.tk, an on-line record of the making of The Owsley Sunshines difficult second album, complete with demos, forum and studio diary.  May we recommend Powered By An Electric Shepard, Till The Morning Brings My Train and for those of you who like vintage TV jingles, Birdseye Potato Waffles. If you like what you hear (and you should) why not go along and see them in action on Saturday (Nov 22nd) at The Bon Accord, Charing Cross (beside the Harley Davidson shop) from 8pm.  Support comes from Theonewhoflew, and if all goes well the evening will be compred by Roddy of Vole Dome and Dead Fly Buchowski Fame.
Other Glasgow based EWO favourites Kain will also be playing on Saturday (22nd), at the Soundhaus with Deadfly Buchowski and The People.  Timing is still to be confirmed, more details when we have them.  In the meantime you can catch Kain playing an acoustic show at Brel on Ashton Lane on Wednesday (19th).  If youre not in Glasgow, or fancy hitting the road, you can see Kain at The Westport Bar in Dundee on Thursday (20th) or The Tron in Edinburgh on Sunday (23rd).
Mr David Viner has announced a tour with former Cat Power support Entrance.  The tour hits Glasgow on December 3rd, where you can see them play at NicenSleazys for a bargainous 6.  Make sure you turn up nice and early, from the sounds of things Viner may be first on in Glasgow.

The tour also stops off at Newcastle; Dog & Parrot (1st), Stockton; Georgian theater (4th), Hull; Adelphie (7th),
Bristol; Louisiana (8th), London; Spitz (9th), Manchester; Star & Garter (10th) and Nottingham; Social (11th - TBC).

MDVs new single, My Baby (Woo Woo Yeah) is out now.
The Black Keys have been forced to postpone their European tour due to singer Dan Auerbach fracturing a bone in his foot.  The band are also said to be emotionally and physically drained.  They said We feel rundown and therefore sound rundown. If we have the next few months, we can recuperate, and prepare for a worthwhile tour in Europe.  They plan to reschedule the tour in early 2004.
We must apologise for the recent lack of updates.  I could give you poor excuses relating to five star hotels with castle views, buggering off to see bands all over the place and essays, but I wont.  Things will get back to normal from now.  I guess theres no point in filling you all in on things that have already happened.  We all know The White Stripes won Best Rock at the EMAs, and rightfully so, and we all know that Alfie were amazing on the Flaming Lips tour, and that David Viner blew The Hiss and Jet off stage on the NME tour.  Now for the things you dont know
Live updates for you all.  Razorlight have confirmed their first headline tour of the UK for January.  The band play King Tuts on the 15th, support tbc.  For full tour details click here

Modey Lemon are also set to begin their debut headline tour in January, stopping off at Glasgow's barfly on Jan 30th.  Its a Friday too!  For the full low down see Modey Lemon's official wesbite soon (theres no mention of it on there at the moment).
The news we've all been waiting for... well EWO at least... Alfie will be back on the road in January for a nice long headline tour.  They reach Scotland on Feb 11th, with a show at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen, before playing The Venue in Edinburgh on the 12th and King Tuts on the 13th.  Lovely.

The
UK tour is set to be preceeded by a set of European dates, the first the band have ever done.  Good luck to them.  More over on the official site, www.alfie-uk.com.
EWO are proud to present to you a very special evening of music featuring three of the UK's hottest talents.

Mr David Viner, bluesman extraordinaire.
Kain, foot stompin' rock & roll.
The Owsley Sunshine, psychedelic power pop.

We'll also be treated to
DJ David Stone of The Hit! Club spinning rock & roll, funk and soul classics.

It's all a little bit last minute, but this is going to be the perfect start to the party month of the year!  Get yourself down to Cabaret Voltaire (
please note change of venue!) on December 2nd for a bargainous 5.  Doors open at 8pm.  But get there sharpish, as the first band will be on around 8.15pm.  Early curfew of 10.30pm.

E-mail
[email protected] for more details.
Theres been a change of plan regarding the next EWO event.  Mr David Viner, Kain and The Owsley Sunshine will no longer be playing The Tron in Edinburgh on Dec 2nd.  We're currently on the look out for another venue, suggestions appreciated, and hope to have something confirmed in the next day or two.  Keep your eyes wide open (sorry!) and join our mailing list for more details
The Black Keys have rescheduled their UK tour for January 2004.

NME have confirmed the line up for the NME Awards Tour 2004, and the line up is every bit as exciting as we'd heard it was going to be, bar the rather unfortunate headliners.

The Rapture, The Von Bondies AND Franz Ferdinand!  Oh and Funeral For A Friend.  We're still excited though.  The best line up yet?  Maybe.

The tour starts in Newcastle on January 25th, and hits Glasgow Barrowlands on the 26th and contiunes finishing up in Cardiff Great Hall on February 8th.
