Buff Orpingtons
The correct plumage color for this variety is the pure gold. Introduced from England in the late 1800's they have become one of the most popular farm fowl in this country. They are large birds of quiet disposition. They make a great eatting bird with their white skin and being plump and juicy. Their heavy, full plumage makes them excellent winter layers. They lay brown eggs and chicks are a soft light buff color. They make great setters and mothers.

Our Buff Orpingtons rule the barnyard! They are quiet, good at foraging, and nice layers of pinkish / brown eggs. We have one Buff Orpington Rooster who's a nice shiny gold, named Pocket. He has five happy girls, Lily being our favorite. Pocket will be two years old in June and his ladies all turn one on February 23.
