The match on 25th
April 2004 was the most critical ever. We were against Swiss XI.
Although we had beaten them 4-0 in the first round, we didn't take
this match lightly as this match was too important to us!
It was so decisive that we all knew we had to win. Whether we would
remain in Division three or be promoted to Division two is all determined
by this match.
During the first half, Swiss XI arranged a defence formation and
it proved to be quite successful. We couldn't make any direct attacks.
Thanks to their mistakes, Franco and Jeff obtained several free
kicks and Lewis and Gary nearly scored.
Though we ended the first half 0-0, being determined to go to Division
two, we spared no efforts in the second half. Gary, Daniel and Charles
made three goals in just 15 minutes!
One more point to
go and we will be in Division two! Keep Up the Good work HKSS!
The
Yau Yee League Cup Semi-Finals 2004 4-4-2004
Club Albion shattered HKSS's hope
of making history!
Club Albion had
a 1-0 win over HKSS. During the first half of the match, Siu had
a chance to score when Marcau passed
him the ball. But he missed the goal because he shot with his less
capable foot. Although he didn't score, this attack strengthened
our team's determination. We did not have any fear even though Club
Albion was from division one. Club Albion then made a threatening
attack. In the midst of chaos, our defender Pui nearly kicked the
ball into our own goal. Luckily, he hit the cross bar and put an
end to the crisis. In the first half, we were more on the attack
rather than on the defence, but still we could hardly make a score
and finished first half 0-0.
In the second half, though
we were in good shape, still Club
Albion were phyiscally stronger than
us. Finally, we lost 1-0 to Club Albion. Our Captain Franco Lee
said, "HKSS did a good job but there is still room for impovement."

Frank Kam is our
team director. He has rich experience in football. He has contributed
a lot to HKSS. Since HKSS began to play its first tournament back
in Sydney, Australia in 1990, Frank has been watching many of us
played. Whenever he returned to Australia to visit his family, he
would come and watch our university competition and gave us valuable
training and coaching advice. Players in the team like Stevenson,
Jeffrey, Alex Wong, Joe, Lewis, Pui, Thomas, Mobin and Marcus have
all been coached by Frank since we were in Australia in the early
90s. Now he still comes to watch our competitions and gives suggestions
to our team. His son, Marcau Kam, is also a HKSS member and he is
a remarkable soccer player.
Frank is still one
of HKSS' biggest supporters, and hopefully we can show him some
great results this year.
Don't Feel Despair,
HKSS! 14-3-2004
HKSS
made a 1-1 draw in a second round game against Colloids.
All through the game, we made many attempts to score, but Colloids'
strong defence made our efforts in vain. At 13 minutes, Colloids
had a free kick. While we were still deciding on the defence wall,
Colloids' striker kicked in unexpectedly and scored. But Colloids
only took the lead for less than ten mintues. A stupid mistake of
Colloids' gave them a red card and us a spot-kick. Our left midfielder,
Charles completed his job easily with the score tied at 1-1.
In the second half of the
match, Colloids started to get rough and uncivilized, and injured
Charles, Stevenson, Marcus and Franco. Charles couldn't even walk
out of the field by himself!
Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now! 1-3-2004
HKSS defeated Standard Chartered
4-0. In this match, all HKSS players were in great shape.
At the beginning, our midfielders
Thomas, Daniel, Franco, Paul and Mobin created ample chances for
our forwarders. Our strategy this time was to focus on side attacks!
Daniel and Thomas were making active moves. Poor Thomas, he even
sacrificed his 'Little Thomas'. Badly hit by the ball from Standard
Chartered, he could hardly continue the match. We could see from
his face that he was deeply in pain; however, he endured the pain
and continued with the match. All HKSS players must learn from Thomas
- his sportmanship! Although Paul and Charles got a yellow card
each, it didn't affect their performances.
In this match, Jeff
tried hard to make his first goal in this season. At 25 minutes,
Daniel realized his dream. Daniel made a lofted pass to Jeff from
the left and Jeff headed in and scored his first goal. With such
a good start, all HKSS players were in high spirit. Mobin, Franco,
Thomas, Paul and Daniel made continous attacks one after another.
Though we posed a great threat to Standard Chartered, we didn't
make further score before the end of the first half.
During the half-time
break, our captain, Franco asked us not to under-estimate Standard
Chartered and we should play the game as if we hadn't made any score
yet. With our strong determination to win, at 5 minutes after the
break, Small Lo and Felix struck 2 goals extremely fast. Then came
our secret weapons: Joe, Alex and Lewis! They made several attempts,
giving great pressure to Standard Chartered.
Stevenson,Jack,Francis,Charles
created an unbreakable defence. At about 25 minutes, Standard Chartered
made their FIRST shot. While Tak was rushing out to catch the ball,
he lost his footing and nearly tripped. Mobin immediately came to
his rescue. He held him so tight that Tak could hardly move, creating
an empty goal for Standard Chartered! At the most critical moment,
Francis appeared and kicked away the ball without any difficulty.
It was the one and only time when our goal was in danger. Finally,
Lewis kicked in one more goal which marked the end of the match.
A side track: one
Standard Chartered player nicknamed 'One-eye man' was murmuring
to himself all through the game. It is believed that Pui is a hindrance
to him, but unfortunately Pui was injured and he could not meet
his old mate in this game!
A Tough Nut To Crack!
22-2-04
HKSS scored our chances and beat Amphibians
2-1 today. It was
a tough game and both teams played well. At the beginning, our
team took the lead. Francis and Jeff each made an attempt to score,
hitting the crossbar and the post respectively. At 7 minutes before
half-time, Mobin created a chance for Daniel. He made a long pass,
giving Daniel a chance to score. Daniel didn't disappoint us,
kicking in the first goal in the match. But when our defender
Stevenson withdrew from the game because of injury, Amphibians
took this chance to strike back. Our team was attacked several
times by their midfielders in the second half of the match, and
they finally managed to make a 1-1 draw. When both teams seemed
to stand an equal chance to win, our keeper, Tak, defended our
goal so well that Amphibians could hardly make any further score.
HKSS never gave up, and finally Mobin brought us the winning score.
These 3 points have definitely put us in a comfortable position.
Childhood Dream Comes True! 19-2-04
As a distinguished goalkeeper
of the HKSS Football Team, Tak
has realized his childhood dream. He joined our team 8 years ago
and since then, he has safeguarded our goal countless times. Tak
is not only flexible, but also quick to act. To him, being able
to produce an impossible save can bring him immense joy and satisfaction!
Yes Captain! 18-2-04
Franco has been a player
with HKSS Football Team for 14 years and this year he is also our
Captain. He
arranges every match with the best formation, so this year our team
has obtained very outstanding results. We won 8 matches in a row.
And in the Yau Yee League Cup, we successfully got into the semi-finals.
In the interview
with our captain, he says he wants HKSS to grab the YYL Cup and
become the League Champion. He also thanks all 'brothers' for their
support and trust. He believes our success is mainly due to our
high attendance rate. He wants all of us to enjoy this season!
HKSS Made History!
15-2-04
Under
the leadership of our God of Death, HKSS created a miracle in the
match against USRC at King's Park,
beating them 2-1 and made into the Semi Finals
of the Yau Yee League Cup 2004. The match was so exciting that it
captured everyone's attention. We were like fearless fighters even
though our opponents were from Division One. Losing one goal to
USRC only made us more determined to win. In less than 10 minutes,
the God of Death, Marcus made the first goal for the day, making
it worthwhile for him to fly all the way from China for this match.
At just 4 minutes before the end of the match, Siu, Mobin and Charles
made several attempts to score one after another, and finally Gary
headed in our winning goal. Our superb performance and excellent
skills made the audience's hearts pounding, their palms sweating
and their pulse racing. The success of this match is certainly attributed
to our cooperation and strong team spirit. HKSS, congratulations!
Paul's Wedding 7-12-03
Congratulations to
Paul and Eva! Our team were
at their wedding banquet on 7 December 2003. We wish Paul and Eva
a happy life together!
An Exciting Match with Shing
6-12-03
What a night to remember!
A rare opportunity
to meet our old team-mate, Shing, who is now a player for Swiss
XI, our opponent for the night! What's more! Our God of Death, Marcus
has returned to HKSS from China to join this unforgettable match!
HKSS showed no mercy to Swiss XI, beating them 4-0. Marcus struck
2 goals and Choi Fai one. Francis strategically planned his penalty
kick aiming at the middle again, and this time successfully struck
his first goal for the season!
