Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now! 1-3-2004

HKSS defeated Standard Chartered 4-0. In this match, all HKSS players were in great shape. At the beginning, our midfielders Thomas, Daniel, Franco, Paul and Mobin created ample chances for our forwarders. Our strategy this time was to focus on side attacks! Daniel and Thomas were making active moves. Poor Thomas, he even sacrificed his 'Little Thomas'. Badly hit by the ball from Standard Chartered, he could hardly continue the match. We could see from his face that he was deeply in pain; however, he endured the pain and continued with the match. All HKSS players must learn from Thomas - his sportmanship! Although Paul and Charles got a yellow card each, it didn't affect their performances.

In this match, Jeff tried hard to make his first goal in this season. At 25 minutes, Daniel realized his dream. Daniel made a lofted pass to Jeff from the left and Jeff headed in and scored his first goal. With such a good start, all HKSS players were in high spirit. Mobin, Franco, Thomas, Paul and Daniel made continous attacks one after another. Though we posed a great threat to Standard Chartered, we didn't make further score before the end of the first half.

During the half-time break, our captain, Franco asked us not to under-estimate Standard Chartered and we should play the game as if we hadn't made any score yet. With our strong determination to win, at 5 minutes after the break, Small Lo and Felix struck 2 goals extremely fast. Then came our secret weapons: Jo, Alex and Lewis! They made several attempts, giving great pressure to Standard Chartered.

Stevenson,Jack,Francis,Charles created an unbreakable defence. At about 25 minutes, Standard Chartered made their FIRST shot. While Tak was rushing out to catch the ball, he lost his footing and nearly tripped. Mobin immediately came to his rescue. He held him so tight that Tak could hardly move, creating an empty goal for Standard Chartered! At the most critical moment, Francis appeared and kicked away the ball without any difficulty. It was the one and only time when our goal was in danger. Finally, Lewis kicked in one more goal which marked the end of the match.

A side track: one Standard Chartered player nicknamed 'One-eye man' was murmuring to himself all through the game. It is believed that Pui is a hindrance to him, but unfortunately Pui was injured and he could not meet his old mate in this game!
