Here's a few treats you can use to pamper Iggy. So far listed are Yummy Homemade Dog Biscuits and Quick Fix Turtleneck Sweaters!
Yummy Homemade Dog Biscuits These make great gifts and birthday treats! Indredients: 3 cups all-purpose flour, 3 cups whole wheat flour, 2 cups cracked wheat, 1 cup cornmeal, 1 tablespoon garlic powder, 1 tablespoon brewer's yeast, 1/2 cup powdered milk, 3 cups beef broth, 1 egg lightly beaten
1) Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. 2) Mix the flour, wheat flour, cracked wheat, cornmeal, garlic powder, powered milk, and yeast together in a large bowl. 3) Mix in half of the beef broth with mixer, dough will become thick, when mixed well, add the rest of the beef broth and continue to mix well. 4) Roll the dough out to about a 1/2 inch thickness on floured surface. 5) Cut biscuits out with preferred cookie cutter ( I recommend dog bone or fire hydrant shapes! Kitty shapes also work. ) Place shapes on a greased cookie sheet. 6) Brush cookies lightly with beaten egg. 7) Bake cookies 35- 45 minutes until done. Let biscuits sit for several hours to harden. For a real treat, serve with peanut butter!
Quick Fix Turtleneck Sleeveless Sweater
This is a great, quick way to make your IG a sweater tha will look so cute on it! Supplies: Sweater you won't use anymore (I recommend something soft, and not wool because it's itchy.) and scissors, keep Iggy handy.
1) Take your old sweater you won't use anymore and hold the cuff against your IG's neck. Pull it along the IG's body and find where the sweater sleeve meets the hips of your IG. Cut the sleeve off here. 2) Hold the cutt-off sleeve against your IG and measure where the legs will meet. Cut two generously sized holes (usually a half-dollar sized slit or hole does it) about 3- 4 inches apart. 3) Add any trims or decorations you might like, or that Iggy likes. 4) Try it on! See how Iggy likes it. If modifications need to be made, simply use the other sleeve!
BEWARE of Dog Sign
In honor of the Italian Greyhound history, put up a "beware of dog" sign near your pet's space (every pet should have his own space). People may laugh- afraid of that little thing? But IGs are known for supposedly starting the phrase. Centuries ago, the phrase was said to start to warn people "Beware of stepping on the little dog!"
Pet Stockings
Let Iggy and his other household friends know they're loved this holiday season: hang them a stocking with care. Customize one with their name on it, or just pick them up a decorative on at the store, and fill it with treats and toys on Christmas Eve. They probably won't get it...but it's fun anyway. (Especially to charm the kids!)
Also try these fun ideas:
* For Iggy, get a Baby Kong and fill it with peanut butter and treats, freeze or refrigerate if you like, it will keep them busy for a while. * Check out local rescues for IGs and see if they have play dates for other local Iggies. * If you really like to pamper Iggy, get her decorative collars, cute clothes, and paint her nails outrageous colors. Everyone will notice!
