"FRET not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it  to pass." Psalm 37:1-5

Though David was troubled by the prosperity of the unrighteous, he knew by faith that their undeserved bounty would be cut off. His underlying belief is that God will intervene in His time! Then the present temporary reversal of fortunes will be set right and righteous shall inherit the earth.
David should be an influence on us today! We should never envy evil people, even though some may be extremely popular or excessively rich. Sometimes it is hard not to envy because we are still in this corrupt world. But we must remember, no matter how much others have, it will fade and vanish like grass that withers and dies. Those who follow God however, live differently from the wicked and, in the end, will have treasures in heaven. What an unbeliever gets in his lifetime will only last a lifetime ~ but what a Christian gets as a believer, following God, will last an eternity.
David calls us to take delight in the Lord and to commit everything we have and do to Him.

Application:
We are to be confident and trust in our Lord Jesus Christ. He will fulfill our every need while we are here on this earth. To commit ourselves to the Lord means entrusting everything ~ our lives, families, jobs, possessions ~ to His control and guidance. He can better care for us than we ever could! If we wait on the Lord, we will be richly blessed far beyond what unbelievers possess today! They can't take it with them where they are going ~ but look at what we will inherit when we get where we are going!! So when you meet with someone that is richly blessed in earthly things, ask them if they know Jesus ~ we are to still spread the Good News in every situation we encounter!
Have a blessed day in the Lord in all you do giving glory to His wonderful Name.

Love in Christ,
Sandy
