"Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God." Isaiah 40:1

With all that has taken place in the last 24 hours, this verse has brought to mind all the comforting needs of those involved and related to the horrific tragedy that took place yesterday morning as four jets were hijacked and senselessly crashed taking thousands of innocent lives.

"Comfort ye, comfort ye" is a sign of yearning from the pulsating heart of God. Our God is the God of "all comfort." That is the very way Paul speaks of Him in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are  in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." The Holy Spirit is called "the Comforter." The Lord Jesus said, "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever" (John 14:16). Let us remember, TODAY, as everyday, HE IS OUR COMFORTER!

Application:
PRAYER, PRAYER, PRAYER!!! For those who have lost love ones, and especially for our country ~ ONE NATION UNDER GOD! The seeds of comfort may not take root in the soil of adversity. But when life seems to be falling apart, when tragedy hits hard, we can ask God to comfort us as we face it. Sometimes, however the only comfort we have is in the knowledge that someday we will be with God. Let us appreciate the comfort and encouragement we now have at our disposal ~ His Word, His presence, and His children!

May the Good Lord bless you with a peaceful day as you remember the families and loved ones of yesterday's disaster in prayer and comforting love.

Love in Christ,
Sandy
