| "Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savour."Ephesians 5:1-2 Disciples of learned men in Jesus' day received intense hands-on education. Studying under a great Teacher meant that the disciples also lived with their Teacher. They not only learned the Master's philosophies, but also observed their Master's daily life. They studied to become like their Teacher. Jesus' disciples followed Him everywhere! They heard His every word. They walked with Him, they fished with Him, they watched Him heal the sick, restore sight to the blind, and feed the hungry. These men not only knew Jesus' teachings, they knew Jesus, the Teacher! Jesus calls us to discipleship also. We hear Him loud and clear in the Holy Scriptures and we should be following where He leads us. He sits at our tables as we dine, if we take the time to visit with Him. He walks with us, if we don't become too busy to sense His presence. He performs miracles all around us ~ are we recognizing Him? Application: Following Jesus is not just knowing about His teachings. By God's grace, it is knowing the Teacher! It is getting to know the One who taught humble servanthood by dying on a cross for all of us sinners! Once we know Him, with His help we strive to become like Him. May God bless you with a wonderful day as you take a little walk with Jesus. <J><E><S><U><S>< <S><A><V><E><S>< |
