| "And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to-day: for the Egyptians whom ye have see to-day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace." Exodus 14:13-14 This verse of Scripture reminds me of an illustration I recently read: The turks, having tortured and slain the parents of a little American girl before her eyes, turned to the child and said, "Will you renounce your faith in Jesus, and live?" She replied, "I will not." "Then to the dogs!" She was thrown into a kennel of savage and famished dogs and left there. The next morning they came and looked in to see the little girl on her knees praying, and beside her the largest and most savage of all the dogs, snapping at every dog that ventured near, thus protecting the child. The men ran away terrified, crying out, "There is a God here; there is a God here." As Moses, this little girl had a positive attitude to take a stand for the Lord. The Israelites were getting hostile and despairing, but Moses encouraged them to watch the wonderful way God would rescue them. Moses called upon God to intervene. The little girl prayed for God to intervene as she trustingly waited. Application: We may not be thrown to dogs or chased by an army, but we may still at times feel trapped in life. Instead of giving in to despair, we should adopt Moses' and the little girl's attitude to "stand still" and watch the Lord come to our rescue. May God bless you with a wonderful day as you put your trust in the Lord in all situations. "Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord." <J><E><S><U><S>< <S><A><V><E><S>< Love in Christ, Sandy |
