| "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God." Romans 8:26-27 When we live with someone for a long period of time, we learn to read their minds. For instance, we provide something for our spouses, like a cup of coffee, even before they ask. Two people who live together become understanding and they know each other's needs and wishes without naming them. This also describes our relationship to God by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit works on our behalf a relationship of total intimacy with the Father so our unspoken prayers are before His throne even before we speak them, and even before we are aware of needs! In ways that cannot be known, "with groanings which cannot be uttered," the Spirit brings before the throne of a gracious and merciful God all our cares and concerns. When we don't know exactly the right words to use as we pray, the Holy Spirit prays with and for us ~ and God answers! We need never be afraid to go before God in prayer. Just allow the Holy Spirit to intercede, and as you bring your requests before God, trust that He will always do what is best. Application: The prayers we offer, imperfect and jumbled as they may seem, are presented before God in perfect order and making perfect sense to Him. It is comforting to know that our shortsightedness is eliminated, our self-centeredness is erased, and our faith is presented full and clear. We can pray with confidence, knowing the Holy Spirit will present our prayers before God with perfection and respect. May God bless you with a wonderful day as you allow the Holy Spirit to work through you in prayer and praise. <J><E><S><U><S>< <S><A><V><E><S>< Love in Christ, Sandy |
