"But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven." We are getting ready to face another new year, and as I look back at the one we are leaving behind, the tragedy of September 11th lays heavily on my heart. People all over the nation were in a turmoil over this tragedy which beset us. Many people fell to their knees for the first time in their lives. Church pews were full all over the country. People were looking for answers and looked to God together! We stood united together, we prayed together, we mourned together. It is just so sad that it took something like this to bring the people together! And what is even more sad this very day, is that the pews of our churches are no longer full, people no longer are praying together, and the tears of most people are dried up and set aside for perhaps the next terrible event to arrive. Jesus tells us that we will have wars and great earthquakes. This my friends is a call for us to wake up! September 11th was a rude wake up call! Not just an alarm going off to motivate you just one more day! Are we forgetting Who is in charge of our daily lives? Jesus said, "As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down." (Luke 21:6) We are in the end times folks. If the fall of the Twin Towers wasn't enough to shake you into reality, just what will it take? Possibly an earthquake which splits your home in two while you're sitting in your living room watching TV? I don't know how to impress upon you that God is calling us to Him. And if you are His child, I beg you and pray that you will join in and reach out to a lost and dying world. And if you are not His child, I pray for you even more so. For on that day of judgment, you will be turned away as you have turned your back on Him. He will tell you to go, for He never knew you! You may think you have more time folks, but take heed because your time is in God's hands! "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is" (Ephesians 5:15-17).
May God bless you as you allow the years behind you to become the stepping-stones of strength and joy for 2002. Love in Christ Jesus, Sandy |
