Biriwiri draws its influence and inspiration from African oral literature, Malawian music heritage and American rap and Hip-Hop music - which Kabuzi and Zizwa grew up listening to. Their brand of Hip-Hop is notable for its strict adherence to the use of vernacular language as a medium of delivery for their rap lyrics. Furthermore they tackle themes that are socially pertinent, familiar and readily identifiable as Malawian and African. Even though Biriwiri’s music is urban oriented, it is permeated by elements of traditional African forms of rhythm and style. In the end, their music also attracts, and is palatable to, adult and rural ears which are conventionally regarded as peripheral audience to Hip-Hop.
Biriwiri is currently working on its ambitious second album titled Umayitha which will be released mid 2008.

MIGHTY
A story teller and a poet .Most of his songs are a reflection of the world through his window expressed in the form of HIP HOP. He started rhyming in 1997 with a couple of homeboys, sum dead…sum locked up…sum married…anyway that’s life. He’s been kickin freestyles on radio shows and MC competitions with no recognition of course… anyway that’s life. The name was originally ALMIGHTY given to him cuz of his obsession with reality and shocking truth in his songs, but later simplified it to MIGHTY cuz of religious cats u know. He’s got one mixtape to his name titled MY BOOK OF POEMS but currently working on his debut album to be called THE FIRST READING.
