We have raised the question of whether we need one or two Corporals for the size of our unit. Even at an event with a larger turnout, a corporal could be brevited for the weekend to help out if we only had one corporal. Thoughts?

Captain: Steve Baxter
1st Sergeant: David Quivey
2nd Sergeant: Douglas Reid
Corporal(s?): *open*

Tuesday, November 30 ~ 79th and 2nd US Rolling Party
by Sgt MacDunno
Well folks, I know Christmas is around the corner and we all have plenty on our minds, but........ it's not tooo early to think about a date for our Joint 79th NY & 2nd US Artillery annual rolling paty.

Due to the fact that Knights Ferry will be the third weekend in March and the Mooney Grove Event (So. Cal) is the first weekend in March, we are targeting the last two Saturdays in February (Sundays don't work well with people who travel a great distance), one of them falls on President's Day weekend, unfortunately.  In the coming days think about which Saturday would be best, the 19th or the 26th.  The 12th could also be considered if the majority wants it even earlier.
Tuesday, October 19 ~ Winter Quarters is upon us all

This means, when we're not wallowing in schoolwork, David and I will have some extra time to add to this website. Some of our plans include:
* A humor page
* "School of the Soldier" with rifle drill illustrations
* Price lists of equipment for the new (and veteran) recruit
* Improvements to the "under construction" pages
* ????
Any and every one, please feel welcome to contribute to the well-being of this website with ideas, submissions, critiques,
anything! We have received quite a bit of feedback this season, and this appears to be a very useful tool for the 79th, plus something enjoyable.
We seek photos (lots of photos!), articles, links you have found helpful... the list goes on...anything within reason, of course... I know Roxane had a brilliant idea of compiling all the recipes that have made their appearances at our various potlucks... see, with a little bit of thought... ;-)
So help us out, and look for changes over the coming season!
Monday, September 13 ~ Nevada City News

Captain: Steve Baxter
1st Sergeant: Claude Braafladt
Sergeant: David Quivey
Corporals: Douglas Reid and Michael Gjerde
President: Susan Gjerde
Treasurer: Dougla Reid
Secretary: Elizabeth Quivey

Congratulations to all!

This event was also the last time most of us will be seeing
Jeni for quite a few months. She has retired (yay!), and is moving to the fair state of Maryland (yay!), where she has purchased a lovely home (yay!), which means that she will no longer be a regular member of the 79th (*sob*). She is already planning to attend Roaring Camp, and of course, would love to have visitors! We'll miss you very much Jeni, but you haven't seen the last of us! And best of luck back there in the "Holy Land"!
Saturday, June 19 ~ Captain Baxter's Newest Recruit
All she needs is a glengarry, and she'll be doing "in place, rest!" with the rest of the troops in no time!
Congratulations to Steve and Susie!

Monday, June 14, 2004 ~
During Saturday night's Wee Dram at Casa de Fruta, the 79th presented our friend and fellow comrade Dave Davenport with a glengarry, and Captain Baxter made him an honorary member of the 79th New York. He is a member of the
CWRS, a central California club, but has attended many of the year's events with the 79th, despite the long drives.
Hats off and a huzzah to one of our most loyal members!
