FRIENDS OF IYT TOWN WEEKLY NEWS 9TH EDITION MARCH 28TH, 2001
HOWDY HOWDY!!! Another week has come and gone. It is now Spring in Most areas of IYT. I find myself wanting to get out and play more and more. Did my Spring cleaning with my move last month, thank goodness that is over with. We have been getting rained on a bit. It is nice to hear the pitter patter of rain drops more so then snow. I notice also every thing is trying to green up a bit. And activity of the birds rustling around in the trees.. I guess getting ready to build up their nests and make their little families. Not much going on at IYT as far as any problems at least that I have noticed. And slowed activity at the club. I am assuming this is due to everyone wanting to get out and play. So grab up your juice or coffee or tea... and read what is happening at IYT!!! hehehe. See you around... and enjoy... :)
***WEBTV HINTS*** Does any1 know how to get pictures I want to put on my web page in my scrap book??????? 80} ***** WebTV / Sega Dreamcast users .Honest John (Honest John) 03/02/01, 12:30 sure..... [email protected] said ... news:alt.discuss.clubs.public.html.help.poorboyinc Gi's to Scrap/Transload: alt.discuss.clubs.public.html.help.mandasbabypanda Date: Fri, Mar 2, 2001, 7:34am (CST-2) From: [email protected] Group: alt.discuss.webtv.webpages From: [email protected] i'm somewhat new to webtv and i have used page builder before...but i don't know how to put GIFs and music to it. ............. Just use these 3 simple steps IF your using your WebTv Page Builder~ FIRST~ When you find an image you see and like on someones site and need to find the url then go here..Enter the url and all the images (gif's-jpgs) on that site will come up. http://source.domania.net/ or http://wtv-zone.com/experthtml/wtv-zone/ .................... SECOND~Then once you have the url of the image you want, go here and hit the blue free "try it" button, enter the url and reduce the byte size of the image.You should use at least 50% reduction of bytes for faster load time. Don't worry it WILL look the same even at 50% reduction. It just means the image will load much faster when you put it on your webpage or e-mail: http://www.netmechanic.com/accelerate.htm ..................... THIRD~Then take that (now reduced in bytes) image url from Gifbot to here and enter the url http://www.transload.net/ts.shtml Click OFF the 2 red check marks you'll see just below where you enter your url and then hit the extract button...Then a pop up will come up asking "do you want this image in your WebTv Scrapbook" Waa laaa. The (reduced byte image) is now in your WebTv scrapebook.. Then go to your WebTv scrapbook and click the image on and look at your status bar and see the importD number...You final thing will look like: http://community-1.webtv.netUnKnOwN_4/doc/scrapbookFiles/importD#.gif Then you just <IMG SRC="http://community-1.webtv.net/UnKnOwN_4/doc/scrapbookFiles/importD88gif" HEIGHT="?" WIDTH="?" border="0"> into your sig box or your web page....... Add <center or<align tags as needed: It might look like allot, but once you do 3 or 4 different images, it will be simple for you. Click here for more: http://community-1.webtv.net/kidkeno/doc http://community-2.webtv.net/Pwilliamandx/whatthe/ ............................. http://wtv-zone.com/TexasOutlawNo1/scrapbookURL/page3.html ............................... Clickable image sample code: <A HREF="http://community.webtv.net/UnKnOwN_4/doc/"><IMG SRC="http://community.webtv.net/UnKnOwN_4/doc2/scrapbookFiles/importD82.gif" WIDTH="?" HEIGHT="?" border="0"></a> After you have uploaded a gif to your scrapbook... you need to make a page {I choose the space background} ? Then, choose "add a picture" from "your scrapbook", and add your newly loaded gif. ? Finally, publish that page. { I think it is helpful to click on the choice of "add page URL to email signature" when publishing a gif page.} OK now, lets say your published gif page... and the URL for your gif page is: http://community-2.webtv.net/UnKnOwN_4/doc2 Also lets say the part of the URL for the gif you just uploaded and published {this is found in the subject line when you view the gif from your scrapebook} let's say it is: importD88_gif Now you have all the info you need and your ready to make your new URL that will mirror/bounce your image for sig box. You have to combine some info. to do this. 1st part) http://community.webtv.net/ *Notice I removed "-2" {you must do this or it won't work.} 2nd part) UnKnOwN_4/doc2/ *Note this ************

***WARNING JOKE BELOW*** Tom was meeting with a train station inspector. Tom had all his equipment in top shape so the inspector decided to give him a quiz to see if he could trip him up. The inspector began: "What would you do if you saw two trains coming at each other on the same track?" Tom answered that he would hit the button in his tower to switch one train to another track. "What if the button didn't work?" the inspector asked. "Then I would run down and pull the manual lever." Tom answered. "What if that level had been hit by lightning and was broken?" "Then I would come up here and call the next station and ask them to make the switch." Tom answered. "What if the phoneline was busy?" The instructor asked. Annoyed Tom answered,"Then I would run into town and get my Uncle Leo." Puzzled, the instructor asked why his Uncle Leo. Tom smiled back and said, "Because his Uncle Leo has never seen a train crash before."
***LINKS...LINKS...LINKS*** This is a place to run your trap. Issue challenges. Upend the furniture. And otherwise rub in the fact that you just checkmated the %$*& out of that geek who had the audacity to sit across the board from you. Bring your game face. It could get ugly. Caffeinated Chess Chess the way it was meant to be played.
***IN THE NEWS*** Once upon a time.. there were children playing hide and seek with the neighborhood kids. There were lemonade stands, and there were the block barbeques. You weren't afraid to let your children walk to the store to fetch a gallon of milk. And you only had to deal with the occassional obscene phone caller whom would breathe heavily into the other end. But, we no longer live in that fairy tale world. We live in a world that is self destructing. Unfortuately, we still have to send our children to unsafe schools.. We kiss them goodbye and wish them a safe and happy day. Praying to ourselves to please let them come home safe and unharmed. Not only are we facing Shootings in our schools... we are also facing the millenium maddness. Stalkers online.. as we are all starting off learning the net. And, allowing our children also to join in. We are finding that information is still not private. Did you know... when you send email to a list of peeps.. that sometimes these addys are put onto mailing lists? And somewhere down the line get used to spreading viruses. Also unknowingly, our personal information is now becoming public. You are not 100% safe online. Although millions of peeps everyday hook up to the web. There is still that obscene person, looking for their next victim. I only mention this.. due to an article I received in my email just this last week. It is a story of a man who called himself "Slave Master" he would section out single woman that were struggling in their life. And lure them into relocating or just meeting him. They soon would be placed on the Missing Persons list. Scary.. isn't it? I feel this link to be most beneficial for anyone out there using the net. The police did catch him.. but, it was too late for the victims they found. Please BE CAREFUL!!!.. You never know whom is on the other side of the screen.. And please also be considerate for those you have on your buddy lists.. send out from the BCC line... not the regular addy line. It is too late for those women... but, not for us.. and don't let your gender fool you either.. It can.. and I am sure will also happen to men...
"WHO SAID THAT?" you're WAY too wishy washy... make up your mind or slow down the mouth... this constant rushing from one side to the other is . if nothing else , unseemly ~~~~~~~~ Kentucky fried chicken heads... A lady pulled a fried chicken head out of a bucket of "Extra Crispy". lol.. Anybody hungry? LOL! ~~~~~~~~ My first post on IYT and it's to say Get a life you sad, sad man ********** Answers from last week - rouge lion, catman33, cosmic traveler
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ***FROM THE DESK OF DANO*** hi, folks :) inspired, no - better said, motivated by the scarey story cathy refered to, when recommending you all to be careful while using the net - i want to give some probably useful tips for a begining contact ... e.g. if you feel encouraged to send a picture of yourself or a particulary beautiful e-card - you cAn get it done anonymously by setting up two email accounts, preferably on services with a rather low attractivity which normally you wouldn't consider to use - one of the addies you take as address, the other as sender - ask for a copy of that card for yourself (most providers have this option) - and voila ! you will get a link to a card you created, stored on the web - this link you could send in a private message on iyt to the aimed person - if the sender address happens to be misused for nasty replies, just give it up ... good luck ... take care ... :) ... daniel ~*~
***ADDED COMMENTS*** So in a nutshell... you are suggesting a person set up two accounts... say at www.myownemail.com and when they send out a card... send it to their second addy.. using the first addy to be the sender.. then posting the link and security numbers or whatever they are called from that which is sent to the second email addy... Great Idea!!! I never thought of that. I also was thinking while I was at work about some more security issues. When your children... or nephews and nieces.. get online to check their emails..or surf on your computer.. it is a good Idea... for you to be monitoring them. Even if they are teenagers.. Now!! I know first hand how they protest this.. but, unless you set ground rules.. for their use online... and know for sure... they aren't giving personal data out.. to anyone!!!!! then this should be standard procedures.. Take it from me.. I recently had to clean completely my hard drive... (after effects of that stupid "Hahaha snow white and the seven dwarfs" .. virus..) two separate times..... anyway... good luck and happy surfing.. Cathy:)
