  • Practice Waiting
Postpone your instant gratification when your hunger hits. Tell yourself youll wait 15 or even, better 30 minutes to eat. Chances are good if cravings are only stress-related. Theyll disappear when you allow yourself to become distracted.
  • Keep a running list of what you eat each day
Knowing you have to write down every snack of nibble can be a good way to remind yourself to think before eating.
  • Look for alternatives
If you binge at the end of the day, get a magazine, book or video instead to have something to look forward to and to distract you from stress-related cravings.

  • Discipline yourself
Make a personal rule to eat only while seated and when not otherwise occupied by a task.
    self-control is the virtue
You will focus more on eating and wont absent-mindedly consume more than you wish
  • Enlist a friends help

  • Ideally, calling- up a friend that is also tempted with stress- induced cravings would do help. This would allow the both of you to share your craving experiences and would make you realize that youre not alone with such undesirable situation. When you feel like eating, write her a quick note or make a phone call.
  • Keep yourself nourished

  • Eat regular, healthy snacks to maintain your energy level. Skipping meals only prompts you to eat more later.
  • Avoid temptations

  • Physically remove tempting food items from your working area. This would only distract your focus. Moreover, never go shopping while hungry. This would only give you improper estimation of what you need.
  • Know yourself

  • Know yourself and your weakest times and places. Get yourself physically detached from these places that tempt you.
  • Know the difference

  • Be careful in recognizing simple hunger from abnormal food cravings.

Note: The abovementioned tips only apply for those who deemed their selves as stress- eaters. However, the tips provided above could also be helpful for those who want to undergo eating diet.
