Welcome To Hexycult!

The inner development of potential and the practical implementation of constructive initiatives within a society is paramount to the present and the future development of young people through diverse activities around the Globe. - Isaac Akrong.

History

The hexagonal structure that housed the idea of Hexy and the rich cultural heritage.  hexy cult was founded in 1996 in Ghana on the West Coast of Africa by  Isaac Akrong, a choreographer and designer from the Institute of African Studies University of Ghana Legon.  I then went on to work with the world premier Ghana Dance Ensemble after graduation.

Drumming/Dance Workshops

Drumming is one of Africa's oldest methods of communication.  The twin partner dance, that keeps the interpretation of the drum rhythm is another inseparable element.  Hexy Cult seeks to tour the world creating the right awareness that AFRICA IS NOT ON FLAMES DESPITE DOTS OF WAR, DISASTER ETC. ON THE WHOLE, IT IS A LOVELY PLACE TO EXPERIENCE A RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE.  The communities in Africa live with the elderly, share common views, counsel and enjoy each other's company.

Send your mind to a land where you can have thin clothes to enjoy abundant sunshine, fine beaches and the sound of the distant drums sends ethnic messages for your pleasure.

The workshops are masterfully handled by  Isaac Akrong, with Hexy Cult musicians. the instruments used are mainly African indigenous instruments such as Kpanlogo, Djembe, Brekete and jumjum drums.Others are rattle,banana/cow bells, xylophone, Atenteben, seprewa etc.
