Let introduce my self, I am a small piece of paper having good looking pictures and my value. I am proudly to introduced so many famous personalities scientists, scholars , musicians, artists, historical events , the beauty of nature and scenes from all walks of life all around the world. Yes you guessed right, I am none other than STAMP.
You might think what's special about me. But don't take me so lightly. I am considered as historical , social, and cultural representative of a country.

My Birth

It was the 6th Day of May 1840 when I am born in Great Britain as worlds first postage stamp. My first name was "PENNY-BLACK" and my value was 1-penny. The man behind my birth was Mr. Rowland Hill. It was this man's Economical reforms measures to boost the revenue , which made my birth possible.

Mr. Rowland Hill, reviewed the many aspects of transportation of post from one place to the other. He calculated the actual expense of mail transfer. In 1837 he released a small note on "Post office Reforms". He insisted that the postage charges must be pre-paid by the sender and the cost of the transport must be less and unique. In 1840 Great Britain has approved the resolution for pre-paid postage of one-penny up to � ounce.

Soon other nations also followed Britain, to adopt the idea of Stamps to implement the pre-paid post transfer. Brazil became the Second nation to issue stamps in 1843. The first stamp of Brazil was called "Bulls-eye". Then followed the other nations like United States of America, Trinidad , and maurities and so on. Now almost every country uses my assistance in the mail transfer system.

India was not far behind to adopt the postage stamps. The then British ruled India issued the First paper Stamp in 1852 called "Sindh-Docks" by Mr.Bernard Ferr ,the then commissioner of Sindh region. This stamp became the First paper stamp in Asia. Its design consisted the Logo of East India Company and surrounded by words - " SINDE DISTRICT DOWK" in embossed fashion.

The then Deputy Surveyer General , Captain Thuilier worked to introduce stencilled stamps. In 1854 , he successfully issued � anna stamp , which contained the picture of Queen Victoria in blue color.

India created another landmark in the postal stamps history by issuing special stamps for the transportation of mail through airplane i.e. "First Air Mail Stamps" in 1929. And also India became the First nation to carry mails through airplane on the 18th February 1911, when 6500 letters were taken from Alahabad to Nainital.
